Performance Issues

After quite a pause i thought of giving eso another try. before the pause I was playing eso pvp battlegrounds for over 2 years. I grew more frustrated with the game. I remembered abilities not going off. Only bunnyhopping in stead of dodgerolling. I grew tired and quit.

a view days ago i thought to try it again. Eso hasn't changed. i think it got worse. everything now is even more delayed. abilities may go off, or dont. or delayed. its not playable.

I dont get it zenimax/Bethesda. Why still develop this game? why create this potentially good game, yet you never seem able to capitalize on its greatness. its sad.

to people wondering if eso is worth it? Controllwise/ performance wise it is garbage. if that is ok to you then give it a try, else stay far, far away.

i hope i safeguard some people from disappointment.

regards.

That is not my experience at all. The only performance problems have been with PvP and there is a pinned thread at the top of this forum discussing that.

Disagree heavily, ESO is running really smooth at the moment. Zero crashes, zero delays, everything really smooth, short loading screens, etc. The only issue is still some lag issues in PvP, which ZOS is working on(new hardware).

The game has received quite many updates since years. We now have dark brotherhood, thieving, excavating, many new zones, etc. And the game is only improving.

If you are new to ESO, give it a try. Even if it is only to play through all the zones/quests once. No game can please everyone. Sorry you feel this way OP.

PS: Players having performance issues outside of PvP, have either their settings too high or have faulty settings. Computer maintenance and internet connection play major parts as well.

Not only do I not have any of the issues you mention, no one else in my guilds has mentioned these issues. I suspect it is your computer, network connection, or something else on you end.

Now, if you want to talk about update 35 issues, there will be may who feel the same way

Even as critical as I am of this game, I still pop in every few months to explore and hang out in Tamriel.

I would definitely say it's worth playing. Just depends on why you want to play.
No one is saying there aren't multiple interpretations of the lore, and we're not arguing that ESO did it "wrong".

We're arguing that they decided to go for the most boring, mundane, seen-before interpretation possible. Like they almost always do, unless they can ride on the coat-tails of past games.

It sound more like you have system problems. If you PC is old it may not be up to the job. If not then perhaps it needs some overhaul. I have all my setting set to maximum, live in the sticks with dodgy fixed wireless internet and my game runs like silk. No lag, no bunny hopping or stutters. Been playing since 2014 and it is smoother than ever. Game is very worth playing.

That's not my experience. PC NA has definitely been running smoother since that hardware upgrade.

I would check your latency. Have 300 latency game stats running behind.

Delayed skills can be attributed to jitter in network. Like if 1 sec bar swaps then takes 4 secs for next bar swap

So yeah, for me Midyear madness felt smooth even with full population. Also rendering felt better then previous experiences. You could tell most people had fair shot at grabbing chaos ball. 😂 The chaos in imperial was like nothing I ever experienced. I think imperial city while I can't put a finger on it just better.

    PC NA is fine

I'm still crashing in PvP and there are delays at prime time in PvP.
FPS is also not as good as it used to be.

I wonder if they have done something in regards to lower speed connections -> Hence you crash when overwhelmed by too many players in one area.

Typically, I only experience performance issues in Cyrodiil. However, after the update I have been getting strange visual glitches everywhere intermittently. I’ll be doing a dungeon and it’s like the boss flash banged me - a big colored wall will come up and stay for about a second until I move my toon.

Personally I wonder if part of that is a memory issue. The pvp side of ESO is a lot physically and virtual memory.

I noticed while in cydrolli I was using crazy about of virtual memory compared to pve areas. Like 6;or 8gbs while I still had good amount ram or physical memory to spare. Even if it was only 4gbs that's still 2 gbs over windows default settings for this.

I have noticed a huge difference in how well the game performs. At least in PVE. 1-2 years ago crashes were way too common in trials. Performance was the worse I had even seen. But since their hardware upgrade, it runs very smoothly I think. I'm not in cyro often- some days it seems fine and others it's rough. Overall I think performance has improved, even if I think Update 35 is utterly moronic in some places.

Companies to not close the business because someone who probably never really got into the game does not think it is worth it to return when a large number of players are active in the game.

This question in the OP is a great example of why the rest of the comments should be overlooked. A large number of players are active in ESO. I think we can say that people returning to ESO or starting to play the game for the first time should disregard what OP has to say and be their person and make their own decision.

The reality is I rarely have the issue OP had, even in PvP, so something else may be the issue.

The trouble with this sort of topic is that as so often is the case the OP fails to mention his platform, server, system specs including internet service (and whether wireless or wired connections), game settings, and real world location. I also wonder whether he has accessibility on the wrong setting.

My guess is op is not on PC NA. Since the new server went online, even large battles in cyrodiil run smoothe as butter. The performance is pretty amazing, actually. They are having issues sourcing hardware (I mean, who isn't these days? ) for the other platforms, but it's coming ...

@charunks on which server are you currently playing? PCNA is doing very well after the server hardware refresh. All other platforms are still on the old 2012 era server hardware are in line to be upgraded so you may have a much better experience later if you're not on PCNA.

I agree with you when it comes to the game being delayed especially for templars. I actually mentioned this in a post a created a day or two ago how the game is delayed and because of it i get killed. I also have ps5 and the fastest internet i can get in Canada where I live so i know it has nothing to do with my connection as i also connect my lan cable to my ps5.

The delay is frustrating because people just create Nightblades that max out crit damage then go behind while being invisible and attack, incap and your dead lol. I try roll dodging or even using vigor to heal up since im tanky enough to survive the attacks but with the abilities not going off properly I can’t heal and die anyways lol. Its actually not fun at all and actually funny this is how pvp is played. Its also delayed on switching bars to

I'm on PC EU tonight (coming live from Cyrodiil as I type this)

    It's unplayable again.

I see familiar names saying: 'Ok I don't know why I logged in, this is unplayable...'

Meanwhile we have players on PC EU Grayhost who think that it's a good idea to create immortal (or almost) ball groups to clog up everyone's gaming experience even more and nothing has truely been done to shut down this style of gameplay which has been creating social issues, game performance issues, bans (the list goes on) for years and years.

I honestly don't understand the management at ESO. It sometimes feels like all these measures (the testing period, more lag...add more again) is like a programmed death by choice.

We keep getting horrible situational sets added to a game that is struggling on current servers. The gaming experience in PvP Cyrodiil on PC EU between 6PM - 12PM is 0 out of 10.

It's the harsh truth and it's very disappointing to see a clear lack of any sense of good will in regards to the player base.

(Honest opinion of a long term player who is really fed up)

    Hello fellow gamers,

nice to read that some of you have a good experience. I play on xbox series x, eu server. On my machines end there should be no problem. maps load in under 6 seconds, which is quite something from the old xbox one. I have a cabled internet, isp KPN, which is a good quality provider. also in the past Ive used pingers and connection loggers to see if my isp was failing. I had these problems before and wanted to have a decent experience ;). my equipment is not it.

My brother recently started playing with me, exact the same experience. its not only in pvp, also in pve. the game reacts from moment to moment smooth, delayed or not at all. so Im shelving the game.

I hope you keep the fun and maybe if the equipment is upgraded i will try again.

    regards.

    edit some typos

also edit: I follow content creators like Dotts gaming, Istherenooneelse. They are very passionate about the game, yet I recall them saying the game is g#$amn unplayable at times, due to the same issues. Similar complaints. They are far from potatos or fruitcakes. So if you never had issues while playing for x years, i am happy for you. Eso mmust be a blast then! I dont think that it is the widespread experience out there.

From my eso friends base not many play anymore and the performance is a big reason for this. I am just more passionate to retry after a while. A small minority of friends ask me if it changed. I tell them my opinion based on my experience. So dont retry, it got worse. The majority will never return, which is a pity if the game finally gets fixed.

Nice to read the equipment may get an upgrade. And based on the experience that the gameplayability improves. Maybe its worth a try after the upgrade.
