Basically if the damage crits then so does the heal since it is a % based heal. If the heal also crit then you would be getting a crit from a hit that already had crit modifier applied to it.

All % based heals in the game work this way. Puncturing Strikes, Swallow Soul etc. If it is a heal based on a % of damage done, then the damage crit itself increases the heal naturally.
