Can a quest completion be lost?

I remember years ago, I did the Psijic quest line, crystal tower quest. I thought I did it on my first char. I haven't played much in some time and found that char was basically 'new to Summerset', None of the quests done. This seemed odd. Then it go to the Psijic quests and none were done, and he re-did them.
Can this happen that somehow quests done years ago get lost?
I definitely had done the quests, the question is just my memory if that char did them.

IsharaMeradin✭✭✭✭Quests don't normally become undone.
Did you ever rearrange the order of characters in the character select screen? It may be possible that you did the quests with a character that was listed first but now is not. If that is the case, your memory isn't completely faulty.

✭✭You likely have done the stuff with another char. In my own experience after taking long breaks, it's easy to remember having done the content but diffiult to remember when and with which character.3 -

I can't rule that out. It's just this was my first char and the one that fits it bets, and I was thinking 'well maybe I did them on my other main char' but found HE hasn't finished the quest. I'll check other chars.0 -
Petoften✭✭✭OK I went on another char and looked up achievements. There I found the 'The Goof of the Many' Achievement for that quest, under the char I just did it on - implying that none of my chars had done it before? That would prove it 'reset'.0

✭✭Unless you remove the character you should never lose completions for quests. There might have been a rollback or something while you weren't playing though. Other than that no. You will have to find screenshots or something proving you completed it on that character and they might be able to restore it, but most likely you're going to have to do it again.0 -

✭✭✭✭✭Craglorn achievements were wiped when ""solo-play-friendly-Craglorn" was released, so we had to do all the quests again if we wanted a white map, but apart from this particular case, I don't see how a finished and non-repeatable quest can be available again (for any given character).Edited by anitajoneb17_ESO on August 6, 2022 12:35AM2 -

✭✭✭✭✭Summerset main quest is different from the Psijic Order quest line, Summerset main quest is an standard story line quest while later is an guild quest to level the Psijic skill line.
You must start the Summerset main quest to start the Psijic Order quest line as in

Now it might be that you early on was able to start the Psijic Order quest line without finishing the The Queen's Decree and later dropped the Summerset quest, but if you don't meed Raz in Summerset you had started it.Grinding just make you go in circles.

I'm not quite sure what you're saying but it sounds like it might be the cause - chars weren't in for a long time and if account-side achievements reset quests, that would explain why his Arteum and Summerset (at least) was reset.0 -

I'm not quite sure what you're saying but it sounds like it might be the cause - chars weren't in for a long time and if account-side achievements reset quests, that would explain why his Arteum and Summerset (at least) was reset.
Account-wide achievements did not reset anything, but nothing was credited under the achievement system until the character that completed it logged in. So if there were any you had not logged in and confused which character had done it, then it will be much harder to find out now that the system sees the achievement as completed August 1, 2022 and will not update that even if someone else completed it earlier but wasn't logged in to receive the account-wide credit for it.

You can also tell by looking at the zone guide. There's a spot that tells you how many of the main story zone quests an individual character has completed iirc.

Yeah. Getting the achievement prevents you knowing if others got the achievement. However, if you take them to Summerset and open the zone guide (found in the map interface) you can see their individual quest completion.0 -

They used to, they do not anymore.
You may have an addon that shows info from when the completion was individually tracked, but the game no longer does so -- only marks the first character to complete the achievement on a given account. Theory - You completed quests on Character A and when you returned to the game after Account Wide Achievements you didn't log into Character A so those dates weren't recorded.
You logged into Character B, thought it curious you didn't have the achievement so completed it getting the recent date.
You then logged into Character A, which updated & overwrote the most recent achievement date, with the original date when you first completed it.Xbox NA/EU

I suspect you're right. I just have a mystery around thinking 'Char B' had done the quests before.0
