I have a ToT questions.

I’ve been playing and losing to some unwritten rule. I reach 40+ first and the player has a chance to exceed me. They do. This kind of exchange seems to only happen 3 times and then the match just ends randomly.

For instance I get to 40+ and they play to meet or exceed. They do.
I play again and surpass them once more. This transaction happens a 3rd time and instead of allowing me to play again on a 4th try to overcome them, the match just ends rewarded the win to the other player. Spite me having a full hand that would once again allow me to surpass them.

I don’t see any rule in game that says you can only do this 3 times. So what gives?

I’ve also had players play 3 patrons in one turn without having any cards that allow them to do so.
And I’ve had players buy cards without spending coins and without playing cards that grant them a free purchase from the board.(like the hlaalu cards that grant you a purchase of 5, 7 or 9)

So what gives? I’m trying to get to rubedite and every time I get about half way up in points I start losing to this stuff.

When both players have passed 40 and keep catching each other, the first one to reach 80 wins.

Actually, I think this happened to me yesterday. I was in an admittedly close game, and playing match/exceed leapfrog with my opponent and without warning I lost the game. However, I'm *fairly* sure I was about to match/exceed again within the 80 limit. I'm by no means salty about losing - I'm losing all the time! - but this one was puzzling to me.

Trouble is I'm so new to games like this, I'm very much on the back foot in understanding what's going on anyway. I'm not very good at analysing my games, and I can't confidently point to potential bugs, but there were a couple of moments yesterday where things did seem a bit...wonky?

But what do I know?

However, am enjoying ToT lots, much more than I expected to! I'm crap at it tho. ^^

Meet or Exceed rounds end when a player hits 80 points.
They did have cards that allowed them to hit 3 patrons. There are card synergies that grant extra patron usage or allow you acquire a card up to a total value from the tavern.

Yeah, this is a bug and has happened to me and friends I've played with, and neither have been anywhere near 80 points. It needs to be fixed because it is, in fact, a bug.

I know about card synergies. But what I’m saying is none were played and that’s the problem.

Next time it happens, capture a video if you can. Until then, some evidence would be needed as a card being used is the only known explanation for now.
