Another purchasing use case

So recently I've been looking at builds using Balorgh. To my surprise, even though I've spent...boy maybe 30? 40? keys to get random shoulders from the vendor, I did not have any Balorgh shoulders. I do now own the DLC that has this item, nor do I have ESO+. It is at THIS moment that I pause....and realize that the easiest part of getting the set isn't the head item, but the shoulders. Because of the non-curated way to procure the shoulders (random I get, 5 at a time should be curated), I will not be purchasing the DLC until I get the correct shoulders.

Of interest, I did manage to get at least a Balorgh shoulder this morning after my first 5 (heavy...sadly not what I needed for the build). After spending another 5 keys (my last ones) I got.....the exact same (down to the trait) Balorgh heavy shoulders.

Want me to spend my money faster (or at all)? Stop having so many things as "a chance", and start having more things "guaranteed over time".

I got my balorgh set from PVP golden vendor.

With that being said, I agree with you. In fact I've made the same exact post about this for like 3 years or more. I argue that rng is what kills MMOs as instead of slowly stepping up and having forward progress , there is only random chance.

Random change in MMOs seems like it's good, but then once people start leaving those dungeons and/or stop farming the materials. It becomes a barrier. In fact Whales and Established end game players start a price war and hike up the price to things because they know nobody is farming the item and it's costing them the costliest resource in the world. TIME.

TIME is the most costly resource in the world. It's not money.

1 Trillion dollars and live for 5 years or 100 Million dollars and live for 1000 years (Without aging of course).

ZoS did make stickerbook and I heard they increased the chances of an item that hasn't dropped for you in dungeons to drop more often until the sticker book is complete.

It's difficult to say if they added this system to the keyboxes. The way you explain it, that just may not be the case. It would mean you would have to get a good amount of the sets that drop from that box before it started giving a chance for balorgh.

If you have most of the other sets in stickerbook (Do Monster helms even show in sticker book?) and you used 40 keys, that means that they never added it to extend to the monster helms.

My brother wanted to get a dagger of something...4 years of farming and nothing...Until stickerbook of course.

Don't worry innovation is just around the corner. We are all playing yesterdays MMO. The truth is there is two things that will happen.

#1 Abandon the gamers and go for the casual people who play phone games

#2 Create new innovations in the gaming space that bring true happiness back into people.

The phone audience are the best subjects for this type consumption. They are trained to spend money to get over a barrier. This is counter to what core gamers have been taught. Core gamers were taught to use their minds and find a solution with their limited resources to get over a hill. MMOs were suppose to be multiple people coming together to find a solution with limited resources. Companies wanted to make more money so, I allowed them to find the sweet spot. Now companies want to leverage pure profits. They create the problem and sell you the solution. So now they use the mountain of data collected from social media, etc. to hack the human brain. The simple notification pop noise brings people a flood of endorphins lol.

The byproduct of all this marketing and selling tricks has created people to be in an impulsive, impatient, Us or Them mentality ready to consume anything. It saddens me that the greatest segregation of all time is happening and people are too blind to see it.

Don't give in to it. Buy a book and start reading. At first one may hate it. One will think they can't get into it. Just continue to read. One needs to get over the friction and build back focus and patience. That's when one will start to imagine that world and be drawn into it. At a certain point they'll complete the book and feel refreshed. They will feel a bit complete.

If one can't find the focus to read, do it with an offline game or semi offline game. I would say a game that was made in the past. One will encounter the exact same friction that is similar to reading before getting into it. However once they finish that game they'll feel complete. One may wish there was more to it but you know that things always have to come to an end. You know you'll have to move on.

It's something that these new age brain hackers know. Make the human feel incomplete. Like their missing something.

We are not dealing with people who wanted to imagine a world in their minds and want to create it in a video game form for others to experience their imagination where we can go along for the ride or put our input into that world and see it evolve.

Instead we are dealing with corporations who want to control us and see us devolve into reliable profits.

When one realizes at the end of the day that time is more important than money. One can't consciously play an MMO that takes both and leaves us with nothing but a never ending hole that they continue to dig into us and sell us the parts back.

If you don't believe me you have to ask yourself what does oakensoul ring do? It's a solution to override their own game and breeze through it. People wasted days in mirkmire waiting for it because they knew it would save them time in the game overall.

I realized if I want to save time in the game overall. Instead of paying for a solution. I simply do not play. There will be more people like me.

I realize now why video games are turning to trash. There should be the main vision and everybody on the team should contribute a small vision into the game. Linear games can't do this as well, but open worlds can. When someone on the team can say "I created that feature" it makes them want to see the game succeed more than anything else.

Broken games are occurring not because making video games is hard. but because nobody has their heart in it. Forcing OT to implement a feature nobody agrees with. Starting with a fresh new batch of people every year (It's good to get new people experience but still they know they are disappearing after a year)

Oh god let me stop here otherwise I'll start going into what I feel life is to me and what the human truly is in the universe.

This is the part that confuses me.:

" If you don't believe me you have to ask yourself what does oakensoul ring do? It's a solution to override their own game and breeze through it. People wasted days in mirkmire waiting for it because they knew it would save them time in the game overall.

So, your rationale is - Anything that is New and adds Convenience to the game is Bad ?? And when something New is added that Changes things, That is a basis for Quitting ??

Also, people are not paying for the ring. They are Paying for the expansion. Or should the expansion be Free ?

They added lots of stuff I have never even tried. Werewolves, Vampires, Psijics, etc, but that does not stop me from enjoying the game. If it appeals to me, I try it. If it does not appeal, I don't bother with it. And yes, things that add Convenience Do appeal. There are a lot of players - myself included - that really do not like weapon swapping. I don't understand why this can't be Optional and have one complete row for the 10 possible active skills. Other game do it. But thats just my personal preference. It doesn't prevent me from playing the game, although It does prevent me from PvP - I'm not doing anything that I will just get slaughtered, all the time, because I am not quick enough to bar swap. That is Not fun for me.

But there is plenty to enjoy without PvP. So there is no reason to quit the game.

The Only basis for quitting any hobby is because it no longer gives you Any pleasure

ROFL!!!! dude, I posted on here like some days ago on how I got Balorgh. When I reclicked I laughed reading this. I can only hope he gave up farming for it for a bit. Otherwise it would be a slap in the face kinda. At least he can get all 3 types L,M,H.
