It was addressed at some point (maybe in the pinned thread in the Housing forum?) IIRC it was said that because there are actually many many more furnishings than there are crafting mats, a furnishing bag wouldn't be possible.

Right after we get a siege bag.

I believe that this was the truth. A straight up furnishing bag similar to a crafting mat bag was shot down and the basic reasoning was that materials are a relatively small amount of items with large quantities of each while furnishings are a larger amount of various items with smaller quantities for each.
Fair enough, but certainly there must be more than one way to skin a cat so to speak. If they can't do a craft bag, then perhaps the ability to "grab" furnishings from houses could work. Allow players to set a house as "storage" and then any items in that house can be accessed while placing furnishings in other houses. Maybe add a tab for "storage houses" while placing items. It's not as elegant a solution as a furnishing bag, but there must be a way to accomplish a similar goal if the actual craft bag tech can't work. That's the point I'm trying to get at.
What we really need is the ability to decon crafted furniture. There's nothing like making a few things for your house only to find they don't work (usually because they're too small or large, since there's absolutely no way of actually telling how big or small a furnishing is until you place it) and then being able to do nothing with them but shove them into a spare house (if you have one) or a guild bank (if you have one).
@ZOS_Kevin I know you get pinged a lot but is there ANY way this can be pushed to the devs? It's a waste of mats, especially expensive ones like Heartwood and Mundane Runes. There's no reason we shouldn't be able to decon furniture, and there's no reason we shouldn't have the ability to preview items in an ACTUAL HOUSE (even if it's just an empty one) rather than a black void that doesn't tell you squat about an item's actual size and dimensions.
