vocal players keep making demands, ZOS responds accordingly. for a few years now everyone here was complaining about how easy the game is, they made it slightly (yes, slightly, to the point that a casual player like myself will not notice these changes). why are there people here amazed that game continues to change? it does because we (as a collective of ESO players) continue to request changes. a game that does not continue to change is dead, not one that continues to try and hit the right balance.

whether this patch hits that right balance or not, I am greatly disappointed with the mob mentality and fake outrage of many of the vocal ESO community members

Not fake outrage. Extremely annoyed at a repeating cycle of poorly thought out changes and internal testing not matching up to the expectations provided by the initial brief.

Not a one off. This happens with alarming regularity, and we are tired.

I’ve played since the game launched. I feel like it’s not just dying, but well. Yeah.

Experienced players are going, they won't come back. What exactly are you looking for in terms of a player base?
We already know thia answer, ZoS wants people who just want to buy crown crates and decos from the Crown Stores.

    .

Hmmmm :| Maybe a player base that actually supports the business model and doesn't complain about everything constantly?

    Just a thought...

I've been supporting their "business model" since 2014 when we had a mandatory sub and I pre-ordered the Imperial Edition and many expansions since then. The bottom line is that poor decisions must be called out and pushed back against before they make it into the game and do actual damage to the player base. All the better if we can show PTS numbers later on why it's a bad change.

Pointed criticism and snark on social media isn't bad while death threats and calling for terminations is always unacceptable.Too many people conflate criticism with the aforementioned death threats when those are not even comparable.

From my time on the ESO subreddit and other forums for Bethesda fans, I'm starting to think the main paying audience for this game has shifted years ago from MMO players to TES players.

Looking at player data, guilds and things like steam stats I'd say that it's not shifted but has been this way for a long time, and probably will stay this way until TES6 (assuming TES6 is any good), so pretty much forever.
It's been three years with no new class, weapon, or major combat changes other than mythic items (and honestly that's just a new type of set) but people keep paying into it. I'm convinced if this game wasn't a TES game and they couldn't lean on the absence of any TES content since Skyrim and years more to come, this game would've been dying that whole time instead of growing.

There I would disagree. The reworking of armour, the CP rework and the hybridisation (some of which has gone horribly wrong causing the crazy DPS leap that now needs a big nerf) are most definitely major combat changes. When Elsweyr was the latest and greatest we had a world full of unkillable tank builds that did big proc set damage, troll tanks and other problems. It's not like the game has gone from perfect to having problems.

Too many toons not enough time
