Question about Gryphons ferocity set?

Does anyone know if the 10% crit damage is applied when the initial damage is done coz if it is then it's possibly a solid set but if not, it's pointless for me.

Yes, it procs when you do any form of direct damage (not a dot). Bonus is underwhelming though because minor force can be gained through abilities like Beast Trap or Accelerate. If you want Minor Force sourcing from the set that carry over to backbar, Tzogvin's Warband is a better option.

There are better options for what it does but it's a very very cheap and easy set to get when levelling or for newer players. If you do the summerset and psijiic story lines you normally end up with plenty of it, along with enough of vanus shoes to run a store.

if you want it for burst on your first hit medusa is the set you're after
if you want it for a longer fight then tzogvin is a better set

ultimately gryphon is the worst option

As others say, there are better options. However, it is a solid BG set. Giving Minor Force and Major Expedition is great on a Stamblade. I have a lot of success with this set.

Its actually Minor Expedition, not major, which makes it pretty strong. It means you can forgo Race Against Time on a Crit focused build for something like Elusive Mist (which is a fantastic tool when buffed with minor expedition). Throw on Elude and 1 or 2 pieces of swift and you can get great speed on any class.

It's a half decent option in PvP. Run a bow and Shuffle instead of RAT. I'm running a Corrosive Brawler DK right now and am finding I need the extra speed so I can keep hitting people. It stacks with RAT or other sources of Major Expedition. That makes it useful, especially for nightblades. If you're not a pure ganker trying to pick off isolated targets, you need as much speed as you can get to weave in and out of combat on the battlefield. Being at the speed cap has a marked effect on your survivability.
