Why ZOS WHY!

I have played this game off and on since Alpha. And I can at this point honestly say the game is going downhill. A perfect example is the Oakensoul ring. You make something that gives players who have trouble with the 2 bar setup an actual chance to play and have fun. Then you take it away due to PVP. When are you going to stop trying to balance both sides as one? And why would the ring be a factor in PVE as it is now? I think the Dev team has forgotten that people play this game for fun. You know fun? But with the nerfs every time you turn around to gear and play styles how can it be fun? I think you do this to keep people mindlessly grinding to have something they want and that is fun. And then once you see the numbers you nerf it and everyone starts again. My time is valuable, and with this nerf you took my time having to grind for this and threw it out the window. Enough is enough. I should get a choice, keep the ring as is for PVE but lose the ability to use it for PVP. I would be fine with that. But you wont give me that choice. You make it for me. I'm sorry who is paying for this game? This is how you lose folks who not only dump a lot of time in this game but also a lot of money. Things need to change.

I came back to the game in 2022, and honestly I am getting to the point of wondering why. Honestly with this Oakensoul ring nerf I think the PVE players should just boycott doing any PVP until you set the ring back for PVE as it was. Maybe if the players speak out in this fashion you will actually listen. Of course you say you listen now, but I have yet to see it. Well, unless it's nerfing a PVE item for PVP play.

Then there is the fact that the only kind of feedback or response we ever get on the forums for the most part is a mod locking and chastising someone for something they said. That sure does not look good as far as a company goes. I seen it said in a post that maybe you take on an approach like Ashes of Creation does. Honesty, and being upfront and open with the actual playerbase. Or heck do like Everquest used to do with things they were going to change that would make a large impact on the game. They would have a pop up screen upon login that would have a announcement and then would have a poll for you to give your opinion through clickable thoughts. I mean if you really care about your playerbase which I would think you would since your very jobs depend on all of us. That you would make more of an effort to try and make us happy than to just beat us down with all the silly changes that come about way to often.

So I am clear. I am not calling out, using hate speech, naming and shaming or any other thing that might get this thread locked and me banned. I am being a concerned paying customer who has spent thousands of dollars on this game. I think people should have a right to speak up without of course being a jerk on what upsets them about the game right now or any time. Make an effort ZOS, you have lost the confidence from me. I Wont speak for others, but I can't think I am alone on this.

Well, Oakensoul even nerfed will help me in game. I cannot bar swap (999+ ping) so something that provides even minor buffs is a big plus for me.

And you don't really want to know how painful getting the leads for it was for me. You know what the easiest one was? The Murkmire strongbox!. I'm still working on the vent lead on my second account. It's - not fun AT ALL. I mean, there's plenty of other players, it's not that - it's that the damned vents don't pop in any order! So annoying.

FYI, I've cancelled and uninstalled due to the Oakensoul nerf and the DoT changes.

ESO can do what they want. I don't want to play with these changes.

As a long-term Everquest player, the persistent Test Server(with its own player base) was massively superior to the test platform on ESO. Things still occassionally hit Live, but we caught most things and more impotantly were listened to, making it feel like they actually cared about what we said

Changes were less sweeping and common on Live. Proper feedback could be given without being on a 5 week cycle.

I think they are trying to start over. It is a shame it came out AFTER the new chapter was sold but that was a business decision. Most of the time consumers will have a short attention span especially when new stuff comes out, like in the datamining.

It is also clear that the vet player's time has passed. Online games no longer care once the game is purchased about keeping long time consumers. They are always looking for new players. ZOS is not unique in doing this, it is an industry standard. ESO is being steered more towards the casual players and we need to be OK with it or move on to something else.

I am still planning on staying myself. I still have my sub. My wife is done though and has already cancelled her sub. To each their own you know?

They had the opportunity to to balance it properly as they could have swapped in major slayer/aegis for berserk/protection and turned force and heroism into minor once. Well.... guess another mythic will be stored forever... sadge

Even Nexon listens to the players about Maplestory changes more than ZoS does. And Nexon seems to actively try to make their players angry.

I'm so glad I didn't farm Oakensoul because of that Murkmire madness. I knew nerf would come soon. Same thing happens every time. They create good gear just so they can sell the chapter or dlc better and nerf it next patch.

I don't know if I agree, and here's why. When a gaming company starts treating the Vet players bad they will get a reputation for it. I honestly think they will not want that type of bad rep with how gamers are today. Just look at how many AAA games went back to development. Gamers are sick of being treated like dirt. And what comes around will definitely go around. I could be wrong, but this game is growing long in the tooth to be messing with it's player base now.

Honestly the buffs that Oakensoul Ring gives are above and beyond what you can get with a 2 bar setup. Nobody has Major Force Major Courage, Major Berserk and Major Heroism with 100% uptime.

But minors? Yes. People can do that on their backbar, things like Channeled Acceleration and Barbed Trap can be kept up all the time but are usually on a back bar that you are giving up.
So the minors actually make more sense as to what's realistic to trade off for using a 1 bar build.
The Oakensoul Ring was to make having the buffs you'd have on your back bar accessible when using a 1 bar build, not to exceed what can be done in a 2 bar build

It's what I expected to happen to the ring and I still think it'll make 1 bar builds really useful for things like solo arenas and overland content.
