Request: Please add an advanced Tutorial

In the Latest ESO live they suggested that they frequently discuss the idea of adding an advanced tutorial. The goal of this poll is to both show support for the idea and to give suggestions for how you can see it achieved.
My suggestion would be to work an advanced tutorial into an expansion of one of the guilds. Either the Fighter's guild or the Undaunted Guild seem like a good fit.
Specifically, what could happen is when you get your invite to the Undaunted you could also get an invite to particpate in the advanced tutorial, and you could even have it repeatable.

Undaunted is a good idea. Rather than just spamming dialogue you should portal to a advanced tutorial room that explains things like roles, weaving, taunts, how to tank, heal, and dps properly, explain gear sets, etc. Required to do it at least once but then you have the option to skip on subsequent characters and also have the option to go back if you need review.

That's kind of what I was thinking.

I have no problem with an advanced tutorial provided that it is entirely optional. If guilds or groups require you to have completed it then fine, but it shouldn't be compulsory for those who have no interest in things that they will never need to know because they don't group or play competitively although they do want to complete guild skill lines.

Agreed. I am one who (assuming they designed a quality advanced tutorial) would go through an advanced tutorial multiple times, but I also recognize that there are many players more skilled than me (especially in PVP).

I remember years ago suggesting making a dlc around something like an undaunted or battlespire academy to make it sort of a training grounds for eso combat system. Would help a ton if made right, a lot of players want to get helped but don't know any better than doing repeated content alone, so said content would be right in the spot.

I think you'd want to do it in the form of a dungeon with three companions each showing off how the roles and mechanics work as you go through the dungeon.

With that said, the challenge a tutorial runs into is that you might scare people off.

No point in learning new stuff. Just as soon as you get geared for something you learned, they nerf it.

This is a good idea. ESO definitely needs a more advanced combat tutorial.

I remember when a friend of mine got ESO and was very confused about light attacks and skills. Like huh?
And I have seen in dungeons quite recently how some people only light attack, it's like they are unaware of skills.

I just learned today that there is such a thing as medium attacks.

I agree with all of this but also add in how to light attack weave. And explain why certain skills may be beneficial on certain bars and how to bar swap explain shielding and roll dodging. How to step out of AOEs on the ground and how to toggle to 3rd person.

We absolutely need better in game teaching methods. My jaw hit the floor when I heard on the stream that it isn't a top priority to work on at the moment as to me, that's the number 1 thing holding newer or inexperienced players back. If it's not in the game, a lot of players don't know about it. The expectation that players will use content creators or outside resources is just not realistic.

I'd introduce a training grounds instance which would function similarly to arenas. You go in and there is a daily quest for a particular goal. Block X heavy attacks. Interrupt X mobs. Dodge roll this or that. It would explain dots/hots, direct damage, and many other combat situations could be added as goals. The key is that it's tied to a daily quest with reasonable rewards. This keeps players coming back every day to hammer in the basics. It could even have advanced modes to keep expert players interested like parse X damage on a training dummy while evading mobs and red circles. Make it a daily quest so players have it in the front of their minds rather than a tutorial that you play for the first 5 minutes of a hundred hour gaming experience. You'll forget all those things before you ever need to use them.

It's no for me. No matter what game, I always skip tutorial. I prefer the "learning by doing" method, combined with wiki and other internet supports.

It as interesting to see how they reacted to that tutorial discussion. They plainly do not want this. It was politician level dancing away from the discussion as soon as Gina posed the question. Wheeler's face said everything.
