Zos could you please do a fishing overhaul? Make it fun! Fishing has been old, stale, and boring (imo) for a long time. Maybe turn it into a mini-game. New World's fishing was really fun. BDO's fishing was really fun, and they had sport fishing. Perfect roe is crazy expensive now, but fishing is so boring not many people want to do it especially when you're not guaranteed a perfect roe. The last time I fished I had 1000 fish and got no roe. Thats not good enough for a boring time-consuming activity. Maybe some fishing gear like a vest and a fishing hat, or a fishing chair with a mead holder lol. Please make fishing a fun enjoyable activity. For those of you that are about to say just watch Netflix in the background... that is not the solution I'm looking for lol.

Better drops and better rng for perfect roe would be great. I know there's cp to help decrease the time between casting and catching fish, but for those just starting a bit of fishing love would be nice. (I know there's a food to help but less downtime and better rewards for time spent would be nice)

A mythic fishing rod would be awesome. Something that would have the RNG effect of Artaeum Pickled Fish Bowl, but could be stackable with the Fish Bowl. Or go another direction and get a "Mythic Gill Net" which could scoop all the fish out of a fishing spot at once

I'd love more random drops - furnishings, cosmetics etc - from fishing. Maybe some more unusual interesting fish recipes too?

It's good to have a variety of things to do in a 'living' world. Keeps things entertaining.

I admire everyone who manages to achieve the title Master Angler - which I will never get. They could make fishing so much more interesting, not only different baits, also different fishing rods, techniques, fish traps, nets, harpoons, better rewards (as others already said furnishing plans, furniture) and maybe there could also happen more things, the fish jumps out of the water, the fish pulls the line, the line gets tangled on a rock... a lot of little things can happen.

Where's the Perfect Roe lately. Saw a hud chat from a fellow guild member last night, he skinned 700 fish and got 0 perfect roe. You can barely find them in guild traders and they are now over 20k gold. What is going on @ZOS_GinaBruno?

The cheapest I've been able to get one this week is 70K. And that was pure luck, one time.
I saw another two single sales for 85K (couldn't afford them at that point), all the rest were well over 100K. Each.

Filleting 300+ fish only got me two (I'm shocked by how lucky I was with that), and I'm still stuck with an in-progress Master Writ, needing three more Perfect Roe in order to finish it.
Next time I'll pay better attention before I start one of these things. I didn't expect Perfect Roe to be so expensive on the traders.

Fishing will always be tedious in any game. Final fantasy XV, red dead redemption, far cry, but the dullest of all is ESO...
Just press A when the gamepad rumbles.
I don't think it would be possible to make fishing in any game capture the essence of fishing in real life.

ESO should either overhaul the fishing "minigame" to something more engaging, or just outright increase the RNG chances.
I don't think anybody wants to log in to play ESO and read books, more importantly, I don't think anybody wants to log in to ESO just to find some fishing holes and only press one single button for the next hour or so.

That's a good thing, isn't it? *confused* Also, people wouldn't need to spend their every waking moment fishing if they just need a few. That would be good, too.

Just want to interject here to say that, 40 vouchers are not worth 2 roe and never have been, just delete the quest and move on.

Yeah fishing with mining games is great. NW with the chests from time to time was peak mmo fishing.

On my journey to earning Master Angler I learned that my RNG truly is absolute rubbish in ESO. I could consistently filet 500-1000 fish and if I was lucky I would get 1 Perfect Roe. At this point you couldn't pay me to filet fish. I just drop the stacks of 200 fish on one of my guild traders and let someone else pray to RNGeezus. Easily one of the most boring aspects of the game.

If any of y'all old farts remember Ultima Online, then one of the things that you probably remember was that fishing had a chance of pulling up a fishing net, and casting said net into open water would bring up a Kraken which you had to fight in order to earn a treasure chest filled with loot. Granted, Ultima Online also had boats... so I'm guessing that's completely out of the question for ESO.

Sorry it hit you that way, but I will be pleased if I get to it once with AwA. Not worth swapping characters to fish. Hardly worth fishing, but it can now be taken in smaller doses.

I got mine back in 2017 before pots and CP stuff, it should be a lot easier now. Coldharbor almost broke me, hate that terrible place.

I swear you grow to enjoy it. I think I had come off of vMA or some other stressful thing before, and after I was about a third into it I started genuinely looking forward to the zen of it when I got off work. Put on some yoga music, some herbal remedies and let the mind quieten, my pace slow, etc. Fond memories of it.

All this talk of roe being in extra demand has me wondering if I should rock it in the prettiest zones some, though there isn’t anything I need more gold for.

Fishing always felt like it was stuck in beta. Prior to our official reveal of High Isle I'd actually bet with my friend that a fishing overhaul would be the 'thing' for the next expansion. I like Tales of Tribute fine enough (besides the balance problems) but I think a fishing update should for sure be something to consider in light of the number of islands we have in the game now haha. Like the system we have right now has the potential to be opened up and expanded more, it's a good base, but it very much is a base, not a complete and engaging system. Give us some kind of 'progression' beyond a title, one that is now account wide and so means even less people engaging with fishing on redundant characters, therefor making prices go up and the grind even longer for those without it already.

I even have an entire fanfic design doc where I came up with some ideas for how to expand it with daily quests for specific fish and trophy baits to increase chances for specific ones, smoothing out the Master Angler grind and re-incentivizing people who already have the achievement to fish in old holes (thus, increasing the chances of drops for the people still grinding it out). I'm not even asking for diversity of mechanics, as much as I would like that, just a reason to return to the activity. Stuff like:

Give us a 'Master Baiter' NPC who can make baits that target uncommon and/or rare fish of specific types (Saltwater, Lake, etc) - you could make them cost reagents that are otherwise low value on the market to increase their value
Make us able to mount some of these especially interesting rare fish as trophies for furnishing (The Crab-Slaughter-Crane comes to mind)
Give us a re-useable 'lure' that you can use in any water but with diminished efficacy (like a permanent used bait) so people don't have to interrupt their grinds to go buy or forage more baits, but are still preferable
Superficial cosmetics besides the title, the boat is nice but you can't show that off in public
A mount that doesn't dismount in 3 inches of water Okay this one is admittedly a fantasy, it'll never happen.

They dismount in the oddest of places, not just 3 inches of water! That is very annoying.

Kind of like sticking a stealable box in the middle of normal lootable ones. Almost like someone is trolling us. It is not good to troll your players....

It's super easy now. Took me less than 3 hours to clear all the fish from High Isle. With the food and cp, it goes fast.
