Launcher doesn't work, Error 1005

Yesterday the launcher didn't react to clicking Play. I closed the launcher, retried with similar effect and then ran Repair and Repair failed. The repair process fails each time I try as it approaches full verification. It gives Error 1005. I have never encountered this before.

I have set the launcher to run as administrator, checked that all appropriate files are given exemptions by firewall and anti-virus, checked that WMI service runs - as proposed in similar cases here.

I have tried them and by now I have gotten response from ESO Support to my ticket and the last from there is to delete all files associated with the game and try to reinstall from scratch.

I deleted all game files, tried to install from scratch with 149 gigabytes of free space on the hard-drive. The launcher put 148 gigabytes on the hard-drive and then started to produce error messages, including Error 90002.
