I cannot recall which NPC it was, but they had a superb English accent until they said something along the lines of "We need these special 'erbs for the potion."

Druid Ryvana? I remember watching someone play the High Isle chapter, and when they spoke to this NPC their use of the word 'herb' stood out.

There are lots and lots of English dialects. Accents from Cornwall, Cumbria, Yorkshire, Liverpool and others may sometimes be hard for Americans to follow. Cockneys drop the H all the time, as do other regional accents. Also there are lots of dialects in Scotland, Ireland and Wales. Many people have accents incorporating bits and pieces from where they grew up and from their parents. Sometimes accents change somewhat (like mine) from living overseas for a while (mid-Atlantic?).

I know this sounds a bit defensive but not quite sure what you mean by superb english accent.

I've just encountered her, and yes, she speaks English English aside from the 'erbs :) So, there must be someone else as well.

Indeed there are lots of English dialects, and all of them are superb. What I was attempting to say was that despite her convincing English accent, the voice artist was clearly American because of the hard-edged pronunciation of 'erbs.

I too find the Americanisms in dialogue to be quite jarring. There seem to be more this time round. But, I don't think I'll ever forget the ignominy of Elseweyr.

Oops, another one. 'Gotten' - quite jarring when spoken with a British accent. Or maybe High Isle represents a blend of cultures B)
