Little Advice to make your rotations easier.

All damage over time skills have different duration's. If you are able to put them all in a order where the durations end near each other, the rotations are just easy and smooth.

for example on a simple stam based sorcerer:

Endless hail 14 sec > Liquid lightning 14secs > barswap
Main bar Barbed trap 19.5 secs > Hurricane 20 secs > spammable/boundless/maybe pet sorc skill > barswap when endless hail ends

Has you can see Your rotation would be
backbar light attack skill1 > light attack skill2 > barswap
light attack skill1 >light attack skill2 > spammable/ boundless armaments

The hardest part of this rotation is just clicking light attack bound armaments when you have 3 swords.

I see people struggling with rotations, if you can put everything in order it's just that easy.
That's all, people just copy builds they see online and have a hard time using them, so this helped me, maybe it can help others.

Check dot skill morphs on a site like eso-hub, some have diferent durations caltrops is 10 sec but anti cavalry is 15, mages guild skills you can use passive to increase dot duration by 2 seconds etc

---

Necro for example would be harder but I would probably do:

Endless hail 14sec > skeletal archer 16secs > Barswap
Venom skull( so we can have corpses) > spammable > spammable > Venon skull > Avid boneyeard 10 sec > Lightweight trap 11.5 seconds > detonating siphon 12 secs> Spammables/blast bones

The issue here is i need to relax a bit when endless hail ends because there's a time difference of 2 seconds btw endless and skeletal archer. Or use stampede 15secs instead of endless hail.

Or use Oakensoul and run in guns blazing.

This is actually one of the downsides of Oakensoul though, which people love to say isn't a downside: You have no backbar anymore and have no access to all those DoTs. You have to carefully choose which skills you want.

    Benefit: no more bar swapping

    Downside: no more bar swapping

with oaken though providing all your buffs, you could probably move a few dots to the front bar

...and if they go through with all the dot nerfs as described in the U35 combat changes it wont matter much anyway lol

i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (fully filled out with current game), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

in progress: acquiring mundus stones (currently only have the thief)

feel free to stop by and use the facilities

I know what you mean but you need at least one spammable, one heal, maybe one AOE depending. There's not a lot of room.

My stam sorc is struggling to fit all his PvP skills on one bar. There's a lot of sacrificing. Poison Injection, Crystal Weapon, Lethal Arrow, Resolving Vigor and I'd like to keep Rune Cage in there. No room for anything else.

A 2-bar setup like we've always had definitely has it's advantages. I can AOE and/or DoT the second bar, and go back to trying to time the DoTs for burst damage which like you said might be near impossible in U35 because they'll all be purged away anyway lol.

on a lot of my builds, my back bars are usually all of my buffs, with 1-2 dots

i do also agree its not cut and dry swap, because a lot of those other buffs do other things than just give buffs

like on my templar rune focus gives me major resolve and increases sustain with the 240 stam restore per sec and a bonus heal while im on the rune

it really depends on the playstyle you want for the build, like on a magplar, all you really need is jabs and then your other 4 skills can effectively be dots

There are a couple of other approaches

    1. Stamplar. What's a rotation ?

    2. For some people it helps if you move or add the light attack to a key (say 6). It's then one hand doing the pattern and it's no harder than when you had to type out "I must not put frogs in the teachers drawer" 1000 times as a kid.

Too many toons not enough time

One thing to keep in mind is console/controller play doesn't have all their skills in a row but all over the controller. On Playstation for example, three skills are on the right face buttons (along with jump/interact) one is on the left trigger (with block) and the last is on the right trigger (with attack) oh, and barswap is on the left crosspad. So a rotation requires your right middle finger (attack), your right thumb (skills 1-3), left pointer (skill 4) and right pointer (skill 5) plus left thumb (barswap) to all coordinate in sequence, which can be as hard as playing a musical instrument. That's not even factoring in blocks, dodges and ultimates.

Personally, I put skills that are either passive or rarely used (pets, or long buffs) on the trigger buttons and keep the three face buttons for spammed skills, which does mean they are out of timer reset order.
