Future Companions: A couple of ideas

So, I went through Deadlands with Isobel and Ember, switching out depending on the situation, and I got to thinking about what each companion does and doesn't like. This, in turn, got me thinking about possible future Companions with...alternative tastes.

1. The Wandering Daedra
ESO has already given us various Daedra that don't fit the 'norm'. Heck, Fargrave itself is full of them, but we have specific ones that we can interact with regularly. From a Skaafin who loves his Investigator Vale novels and just wants to be left to read in peace, to a Dark Seducer who comes to care for a mere Mortal and needs to rescue him from her sisters, and a Watcher who is tired of just watching and recording, and wants to just...be. And of course Lyranth, whose motivations are almost impossible to fathom.

So, how about a Daedra who wants that adventuring life? Dremora, Xyvlai, Skaafin, any humanoid would do. Eager to experience everything from assassination (which they enjoy anyway), to thievery, to big boss battles. Not fond of boring things like crafting, and hates Inns and Taverns...the smell of Mortals gets a little funky. :)

Best as a DPS (blades) or Healer (staff), but functional as a Tank (sword and board).

2. The Clanless Minotaur
Last of his Clan, rescued by the player, he swears a pledge of Honor to travel with you and fight by your side. His massive axe cleaves through the hardiest foe, and his roaring charge is enough to make the strongest foe start with surprise. He has no issue with theft, but fighting should be done with Honor...no assassinations. To run from a fight is to bring shame and dishonor, to fall in a fight even more so. Loves puppies...and maybe baked apples.

Best as a Tank (2H Axe) or DPS (Twin Axes), semi-functional as a Healer (Bow/Spells).

Just a couple of ideas that would spice things up a little, as well as giving us variants on likes/dislikes that we could throw into the mix.

we do still need companions to fill out the roles of a warden and a necromancer

some kind of daedra could fit as a necromancer, although i dont want to fathom how buggy their skills would be if they had their own temp summons lol

i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (fully filled out with current game), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

in progress: acquiring mundus stones (currently only have the thief)

Interesting ideas. I'm just hoping our necro and warden companions are male.

I love the weird races and unusual characters of Tamriel, and the companion system is an amazing way to experience their story.

The first 4 companions have been too closely modelled after playable races and classes - unique skills dressed as player animations. It would have been cooler if they used some of the amazing NPC animations, so I hope for more interesting companions, lot's of them.
#1 tip (Re)check your graphics settings periodically - especially resolution.

im guessing we will start seeing more unique combinations after they have covered at least the base classes

because there is also the "werewolf" or "vampire" lines that could be used for a companion too

And what, have to heal your companions cause they cannot heal with regeneration? Oh wait, you cannot heal them either. :D Good Vampire Design is good vampire design.

I would just enjoy having one or two characters from each of the DLCs(Dark Brotherhood, thieves, Daedras, vamp([Re-reworked] and ww) being able to join your party.

There are more races than classes as is, so having non-playable race companions seems less likely, even though it could be fun and there's no reason to stick with player races only for companions.

That said, there are only the DLC classes left uncovered, and if the formula keeps going with 2 companions in the big expansion, then at most in two years the choice will be to either have something rather different or something rather disappointing.

But even by now, Isobel feels a lot like just a less annoying version of Bastian by her personality. If companions keep getting added, we will get to "boooring" very quickly, so I won't be surprised if it will end at these 4 or 6 and something new will be added to the game afterwards, just like there have been only two DLC classes, not a new class every year (even if for a different reason).

I'd really like an Orc companion. I don't even care if they're male or female.

(And I also want a ghost houseguest. ... Think how neat it would be to have a ghost walking around your house.)

    3. The Spriggan Caretaker (Templar/Warden)
This Spriggan has had her connection to her area severed somehow, and this has left her feeling lost and alone. You have found and befriended her, and kept the loss of connection from destroying her. She has joined you in your adventures, equipped with a branch from her old woodland, and she has vowed to reconnect with all of Tamriel, as she protects you with her healing magics, and fights with you by calling on the spirits and denizens of the wild world.

Best as a Healer, ideally using the Warden skillset. Also functional as DPS, also using Warden skills. Operating as a Tank would use more Templar-like skills, and could maybe also cause her to turn red.

I have a Templar and a Warden character setup like this, using the Spriggan Polymorphs. I see no reason why it couldn't be applied to a Companion NPC, with the skills somewhat combined.

I'm in the camp that the next two companions next year will definitely be a Warden and Necromancer to complete the class set. It's wishful thinking, but I'd like to see the devs work a little harder and give the Warden lycanthropy and the Necromancer vampirism. It's a natural fit for those classes and it would add to the immersion and role play value. It would be even better if it's woven into their quest stories.

After those two classes, all that's really left is to just sell reskins and voice packs for the existing companions in the storefront. At that point, they can provide all kinds of variations to meet your fantasy.

most likely the companions would have a MUCH better vampire skill line than we would ever have lol

One of my first companions in TES III was an Ogrim sitting in the middle of a path like a Snorlax. Id love to repeat that experience here.

Id also like to add a suggestion for the necromancers out there. An Undead companion.
