Only grouped activities give extra chests?

Am I reading things correctly that you can only get extra chests by doing things with someone else? (Except for the 1 daily.)
I just want to make sure I am not missing something, but color me underwhelmed if this is true.
Has anyone tried playing PC EU after 6 pm Texas/US time? They roll up the streets!
Yeah, why am I playing on PC EU? Because it is there! I do plenty on PC NA as well, but it stays a bit more active overnight.

Things like killing world bosses does, but not things like your first crafting daily writ or your master writs.I've fought mudcrabs more fearsome than me!0 -

So the daily "do 1 of 3" and a single crafting quest. That is what I thought. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing any.PC

Mithgil✭✭✭For the World Boss drops, yes, you need to be grouped up with Guildies (and they need to be at the boss, too). There are other ways to get the reward boxes.
Going through dozens of saved-up Master Crafting writs myself, and going to do some pick-pocketing, too.

I think they mentioned in the article that thieving also has a chance of dropping these boxes.2
