How Important is a New Class in the Next Chapter to You?

    Not Important At All
I say not important. For me, personally, unless they add class change tokens or increase the number of character slots, more classes would require me to delete existing characters. There's no real incentive for me to do that, given the time already put into the existing characters in terms of levelling abilities, crafting, doing trait research, etc. ZOS has already talked about server/database performance. Adding more character slots seems like just another performance sink.

If they release new class & obligatory additional char slots (one included, one crowns) it's moar crafters in worst case.

Why new skill lines when we are limited to two 5-slot skill bars? There are way too many unused skills as it is. I mean does any build utilize the Psijic skills besides the ultimate and Imbue Weapon?

A surprisingly large number of people don't follow the meta, or Alcast, or streamers, or any other source for builds.

Some people make a build for RP, for the fun factor, or because their personal build suits whatever they are doing in-game.

    There's no harm in variety.

I need a new superduper class which is Over Powered so I can create one and become top dog (before the class gets nerfed).

I don't see how adding new morphs/spellcrafting is any different from a new skill line in terms of the issue that there 'are too many unused skills'

A morph alters an existing skill instead of adding a new skill line.

I just don't see the point in new skill lines without more skill slots. We already have fighter's guild, mage's guild, undaunted, psijic, werewolf, vampire, all three skill lines for all classes, all weapon skill lines, and I'm probably missing some. We can only use a small fraction of them at a time.

At least morphs only alter an existing skill into something improved for your build.

I have no doubt we will see new skill lines and maybe even a new class. But how much of that will be wasted effort?

I said important because due to AwA, I need a reason to create alts. A new class would be a good motivator. If not a new class, then hopefully something that will make me want to play more than my main.

I don't want new skill lines, given how few skills we can actually use at a time.

    (I doubt we'll get a new class.)

Considering the clunky incoherent mess of the two classes that have been added since the launch I can’t say I’m in that much of a rush.

The warden feels like a collection of spare skills leftover on the design room floor and unceremoniously shoved into a Warden shaped bag. The necromancer, to be totally honest, has more in common with Scooby Doo than anything even vaguely sinister. We don’t even get a skeletal swordsman, just a green bomb with legs that spends a lot of his time wandering around in circles when its target is right in front of it, two of the skills are just visual copies of each other.

I would be far more interested in something a lot of other online games have been doing recently, namely systems by which more than one class can be put onto the same character. For me as a story addict, this would be wonderful.

We can get a new class at some point. I'm trying to brainstorm here at the office which kind of MMORPG class is missing from the game. All I can come up with is "Bard". We have two summoners, we have an odd necromancer, we have DD lightning, fire and ice magic, we have the thief/assassin/stealth type, we have tanks, we have healers.

What we are missing is a Bard.

I wasn't around in the first year of the game. The four original classes, their toolkits and the class balance, were fairly worked out by the time I arrived. I like those classes, but I don't like warden and I think necro seems like warden by another name, even though I haven't tried it. I mean Shalks and Blastbones? Come on.

It would require some major new ideas for a class that I might like. Going by the evidence, ZOS doesn't have any. Part of the failure of warden - mostly talking about PvP - is that the class seems designed by rote. They had the major and minor buff system. They distributed those buffs in not very interesting ways among skills. They said "Gosh, what have we done with executes? We must do something different. I know! Let's put the execute on the bear ultimate". That was such a bad decision, it could only come from a class designer who only PvEs or is a casual. The AI / pathing of the bear, and companions for that matter, doesn't work in serious endgame content. In a sense warden was the start of catering to the casual player who, by then, had probably been recognised as the primary audience for the game.

Gap closers? Not that these are all that useful with the horrible delay they have these days, but did you know warden has a gap closer? Yes, it does! It's called Nature's Grasp! A niche skill for healers. It's fun for about half an hour in a player's house. How often do you see it used in combat? It confuses allies, it's so rare. Warden is the result of leftover bad ideas from the other classes. "We made a teleport gap closer for nightblades. We made one with a stun for templars. We gave sorcs Streak (fantastic and unique). We put it on the ultimate for DK (also fantastic and class defining)". What was left over in the drawer? Nature's Grasp.

Given the combat framework that now exists and how familiar I am with it as a long term player, I'm not sure I could do better. What would be needed is someone seriously thinking outside the box in terms of skill design.

I'm going to say it's 'important' with the caveat that I would settle for a new weapon or guild skill line.

I wouldn't mind a new class, but I don't think we need/can have any more character slots. So I don't know if it is necessary or worth it. Instead I would love if they made ability skins a chapter gimmick, like with the warden bear.

If they add new class, I do not see it can be one without moar character slots, at lest if horde of altholics with 18 chars each wielding torches and pitchforks is to be avoided.

I wouldn't mind it, but I'm also a bit skeptical because balancing is a big problem with this game and because they want to make chapter features attractive to increase sales, it's likely it's going to be overtuned (like necro was) and it will be a headache with balancing combat. If they did it right though, it would be pretty exciting.

I have at least 1 character of each class, so if a new one was added I'd probably make a new character to play it. But I don't really have enough time for all the characters I have and it would have to be something pretty special for me to prioritise it over my current characters.

Overall I think it's unlikely a new class would get much attention from me, so it's not a big deal. But I do like options, and there's always the possibility they'd add something I'd love (although I'm not sure what that would be right now) so I'm not totally indifferent either.

But I think a new weapon type or weapon skill line would be more interesting to me. That's one area where a lot of my characters end up feeling a bit too similar, or I feel like I'm forcing them into odd choices to avoid duplicating something I've already got so more options would be nice.

I don't particularly care if we get a new class or not, so long as the Chapter cost is appropriate to the new feature added. After all, the whole idea behind Chapters was that we would have new features that justified paying cash instead of the content being a DLC bought with crowns.

$40 Morrowind for Warden and Battlegrounds.
$30 Summerset for Jewelry Crafting and Psijic Order.
    $40 Elsweyr for Necromancer
    $40 Greymoor for Antiquities
    $40 Blackwood for Companions
$40 High Isle for the Tales of Tamriel card game.

Frankly, Greymoor and High Isle new features were more in line with the $30 I paid for Summerset. I bought Greymoor on sale accordingly and will do the same for High Isle. I'm not a fan of paying the same price for features that are significantly less impactful for gameplay than what Morrowind and Elsweyr had.

If ZOS wants me to pay $40 for their new features, yeah, I'd like something like a new class.

I’d be all for new skill lines.
Make skill lines accessible for all classes dealing in elemental damage (yeah yeah I know, it’s gonna steal other classes thunder, but wait a minute if you will).
Classes who already have elemental skill lines (warden, sorc etc) get given a new exclusive skill set, we got dark magic, daedric summoning for sorc, so why not blood magic?
Warden has nature and sorta beasts I guess, but it doesn’t feel like a pet class honestly, so I’d prefer seeing the frost be replaced with wolf pets or some such, to really bring out the Druid style.
Destruction staves still do the job, but I wanna see wands :p dual wand wielding or wand and blade/ shield.
Physical enhancement Magicka for all classes to get dirty with 😂

There’s plenty of stuff that could be brainstormed, but in the end, wishful thinking.

It is far more important to keep all classes unique, that can be difficult if we have many classes.

Right now I think that ESO is in a good place with the number of classes. Would I like to see a new class in the future? Sure. But it would have to fit in, be unique and be just as good as the other already existing classes.

I would prefer to see new skilllines or weapon types. We've had pretty much the same for a long time.

I just want to see well written stories and a change from expansions that are so thin on content that they can be finished in a few days and never touched again. When I bought Blackwood it was on the promise of further content for the companions added with it because everything else about the chapter was sub par in relation to what came before. Now instead of that we have "shiny and new" companions which have updated interactions "but only if you buy the new expansion!".

So, it would be really nice for some of the things that have been added already to be worked on as part of the game instead of being dropped for the next 'thing' to happen. I imagine everyone here has something in mind that could be improved upon. Fixing the vampire skill line would good; I think I got to play with that one for all of about five minutes before it was nerfed into oblivion.

I want a new class cause I feel like the classes we have now don't represent the real spectrum of gameplay types.

I really, really want a class that uses life as it's main resource for most skills. A class, not a skill line. Something like an Eldritch Knight.

I only want class implementation if the ENTIRE team responsible is not WFH. That kind of combat balancing for all the skills and flavor needs to happen in-person instead of remotely. I’m honestly thinking this is why mini games and companions have been the major additions to the last 3 Chapters.
