Selling Greymoor for gold in ESO

It is such a missed opportunity for ZOS to not actually officially support this. and for subs too.

I get they want actual $$ rather than Crowns, and that is fine, it can be done.

Have a purchase of a Greymoor (or next chapter) as a token, purchased with credit card that can be traded via trade window. Same with ESO+ 6 Mo subs.

It makes little difference to ZOS if 1 player buys 100 copies to sell 99 for gold, or 100 players buy 1 copy each.

There should also be some sort of auction house for crown/chapter items to make it safer. This would destroy the wide spread bot farmers overnight as people that want gold and want to purchase it with $$ will have a method of doing it in game and as they are trading for in game items rather than $$ it is all within the eco system. The likelihood of somebody venturing off to some shadey website will be non-existent when a safe and approved method is presented to them.

Edit when I say auction house, I mean if you open the crown store, you'll see the items crown value, OR the average price it sells for for gold (which is another player essentially buying it for you). You can set an amount you are prepared to pay for it with gold, that gold is taken from you held in limbo, and if somebody with crowns agrees to that offer, boom the trade takes place. Same with chapters/eso+.

Could we get an answer on this, please?
We've auctioned off pet codes in our guild before.
Now, we have someone offering to donate a Greymoor code for us to auction off - but we'd like to know if it's a violation or not. Obviously we won't do it, if it is.

No sense in auctioning it off, since players can already get to the greymoor areas without having to pay for it
~There’s a positive in every negative. Sometimes the positive is harder to find than other times, but there is ALWAYS one there~

Did you ever get a reply on this? Did you do a Greymoor code auction and it went through fine?

Can i sell the Chapter Greymoor for Gold, in ESO? In my opinion is the same as selling gold for irl money.
I see a bunch of users in some discords offering to sell Greymoor for 3kk gold, and i think this is a *** off, and ilegal, right Zenimax?

Someone asked if this is legit....Don't be dumb, they are trying to take your gold and run with it. They know zeni wont do anything about it because it's against the TOS.

That is the oldest scam in the MMO books.

I am assuming you want to use your gold to buy greymoor. Only a fool would spend money to get gold in a game.

Gold in ESO, to me is utterly worthless. I've never been over maybe 500k.

    ZOS Please Clarify!

I see a number of people sharing the idea that gifting a Chapter such as High Isle and receiving in game gold is a TOS violation. There is no official ZOS position on this, only interpretations by other gamers. The definition of in game items appears key. It is obvious that trading cash or Starbucks gift cards for in game gold is not allowed. However, a chapter upgrade, such as High Isle, as part of the game becomes an in game item upon installation.

I buy my crowns and my High Isle chapter upgrade from (ZOS owner) the Microsoft store. When I go to buy crowns the in game UI sends me to the same Microsoft store from which I can purchase the High Isle upgrade. I have gifted (unsolicited) the High Isle upgrade officially purchased through the Microsoft store to a friend for no consideration. Once I complete the gift, the the chapter upgrade becomes an in game item upon installation. This is the same as when I buy crowns and acquire in game items for "trade." And I point out a trade is simultaneous, what actually happens is sequential gifts. This is precisely why ZOS does not have a crown/gold trading component and sometimes helps but generally disclaims any responsibility for scams. You cannot COD crown items. You cannot COD Microsoft store High Isle upgrade codes. You can only gift. My friend sent a substantial amount of gold (which I returned twice) because a simple "thank you" was enough for me. If he gets a rare motif I have been hunting and sends it to me next month, can we both be banned?

Accepting gifts is not prohibited by TOS. Trading in game items is not prohibited by TOS, and what could be more "in game" the an operating component of the game itself? I have also seen guild raffle prizes for the upgrade being offered (which will presumably result in the purchasing of a gift of a download number to the raffle winner). Seems strange that many people think a chapter gift transaction is "illegal" when High Isle chapter upgrade will be available for gift/trade in the crown store in a year with no questions asked. I have a not particularly close acquaintance guildmate, who is disabled and heard about my previously referenced gift. He is just a guildmate, plays all the time, and has a large bank of gold. However, his current situation did not allow him the spare cash and he wanted the upgrade. He would have been happy to gift me gold in return for helping him out by gifting the High Isle chapter upgrade. If I gift High Isle and the disabled recipient sends me $1 million in game gold to express gratitude, I am baffled why I might be banned if I accept such an expression of gratitude for my gift.

It sure would be great if we could get an official Zenimax response. It seems to me a clear statement allowing such a transaction, similar to crowns, would be a ZOS revenue enhancement and allow folks who are short on IRL cash to expand their gaming.

Nopes...because you cannot get it for crowns.

If you could gift the chapter from the crown store then yeapers. If it is for irl cash it is a giant no, from what I was told

Best to ask ZOS themselves to be extra triple sure.

Zos has already spoken to this.

We cannot trade real-world items for in-game items.

Crowns are considered in-game by Zenimax's standards. That is why we can trade crowns for gold.

However, since a chapter is not available in-game, as this person noted, it would be considered a real-world item so it cannot be traded for gold as that is in-game.

Now, one could sell a DLC purchased in the crown store for gold as long as a DLC can be gifted. All of that is in-game.

This is a very old thread. It's not a chapter anymore so you can trade in game items for in game items

    Greetings,

We have closed this topic as it was originally created in May 2020. In many cases, it's better to create a new thread on a topic that you want to discuss as opposed to bumping one that is rather old.

    Thank you for your understanding.
