Sorcerer-King Orgnum, a counter for those who always choose Duke and Pelin?

I know this deck is seems to be over powered but its really a gamble. If you can pick the right time to start spamming the patron then this is a good deck to counter those who always pick Duke and Pelin. If you choose the right moment (after you get a few good point cards and before they get too many combos) then they are too busy trying to stop you. At least this works for those who haven't encountered the deck before. If you wait too long then you've wasted all of those chances to get coins to buy better cards and they will run the table on you. Also, if you get too many Maormer cards you can get into a pickle of not having enough coin to keep the patron going, like I said a gamble in hitting the right time to start.

It was kind of fun getting my patron achievement while getting a 4 in a row streak to finish out gaining my Rubedite level.

To be fair I only chose this deck when they choose either Duke or Pelin as their first choice.

It seems that with the new decks the game seems much more balanced as at the beginner lever.

Sorcerer-King Orgnum (boring as hell) and Saint Pelin are by far the two worst sets for those who want to enjoy the competition game. The problem with ToT is that the game is mostly based on luck, but those two decks are only based on luck, there's nothing else. When two players at the same level plays with those two decks it's only luck that defines the game. And most of the time you know who'll win in two or three rounds. The game is nice (as a mini game inside other game) but compared to Elder Scrolls Legends it's a complete fail. For now we are all enjoying what we can, because it's new and addictive, but the game is extremely unbalanced.

Not so much, but if they choose to select those decks first chances are they don't have the other decks yet and it catches them off guard. (Its a temporary thing)

To me the current OP things is the deck of pelin, the deck of crows, and the patron ability of orgnum. The issue is that the only way to counter each one of those is to utilize one of the other decks. If you want to properly counter the OP stuff of Pelin, you're gonna need to use the OP stuff of orgnum and crows. They're sadly the current meta. As others have said, all these decks are incredibly boring. Some of the most fun battles I've had is when none of those decks are chose and I love those. But of course on the leaderboard everyone chooses them so they can win easily.

I’m on console, we only just got High Isle but so far I’ve mostly had fun with ToT.

I unlocked my rubedite achievement and plan on getting all my other ToT achievements as I get my 30 dailies completed achievement.
After that though.... idk how much I’ll play this if at all.

Question - would Elder Scrolls Legends have been feasible to have instead? Is it a better card game?

I can’t imagine this card game will maintain a playerbase for long.

Feasible - probably, but considering how many bugs there are in a fairly simplistic ToT, I can't imagine it working out well if TESL was ported instead.

Apples to oranges - one's a CCG with constructed decks, the other one's almost a pure deck builder with a hint of area control (or whatever patron powers would fall under). "Better" in terms of gameplay is subjective.

However, deck builders generally allow faster games, mostly fixed meta and a fairly straightforward game. People have problems grasping the concept as it is - imagine trying to learn all the intricacies of TESL or worse. It make sense as a type of a game you find inside an MMORPG (at least in comparison to a full-blown traditional CCG), however, there are extensive threads questioning the overall balance of the game that may do more harm to the longevity of the game than the game mechanics itself.
