IC Monster Shoulders Extremely Accessible - Too accessible?

Started the grind for my Zoal shoulders with a measly 15k TelVar, and I am happy to report that after 3 solid days of journeying into the Imperial City (Sewers and Topside), I have managed to bring my TelVar total to a whopping 216, mostly due to the timely aid of multiple....multiple....multiple DC nightblades and a few roving bands of AD. Which brings me to my point:

Given the startling rate of accrual and the total ease of access, are we sure 20k TelVar is a high enough purchase price? Granted, the shoulders are locked behind a loot box like the Undaunted instead of being directly purchasable, which certainly eats up a lot of time and resources, but I can't help but feel as if we could be doing more to further the user end experience and fun, compelling forward momentum of IC that isn't at all "incredibly frustrating", "absolutely unrewarding", "a complete waste of 5 hours in 30 seconds", or "a total turnoff to almost everyone that doesn't live there already".

Personally I'm very glad that significant content is locked behind a wall that there is a very serious chance a nonzero number of players literally cannot breach no matter their time investiture, and that behind that wall is a loot box system to catch any strays that accidentally attempt to participate in this content or purchase/use these monster sets, and I directly applaud that there is literally no other resource one can use to circumvent this telvar loot box cost, but...I dunno. It still feels too easy.

It feels like we could be doing more.

Thoughts?

If the drops were curated, I would agree on raising the price. Currently with the items being bound and not curated, I personally think the price is too high, but I'll meet in the middle and say they could keep it as is.

Update: Within minutes of posting and 30m of logging in, 9 deaths by no less than 7 different, individual gankblades and two roving warbands have finally applied a halt to my massive accrual of -15k telvar/hr. I can only assume you have all seen this post on the forums, and have decided to help make this a more measured, enjoyable experience for everyone by dimming the frankly blinding amounts of telvar being built up by everyone everywhere.

It really does my heart some honest good to see the community band together like this.

Godspeed and gods bless, heroes all.

After getting between 1-2k Tel Var, put it in the bank. If you begin your grind with 0 Tel Var, despite not having a decent multiplier amount you'll still be progressing your goal.

Sewers tend to be safer than topside, but you must assume that you are never alone.

You can take a break by entering a new area in the sewers or district and staying in place (purple glow). You will not be safe if you enter a district via the center door, since the passive mode effect wears off. While you have the passive effect on you, you can queue for Cyrodiil and then queue back into the Imperial City. This helps mitigation the stress of carrying your Tel Var back to the bank or having to waste AP for a Sigil of Imperial Retreat (telports you back to base).

Carry invisibility potions with a dash of major expedition (Blessed Thistle, Blue Entoloma, and Namira's Rot). If you're not a nightblade, you can have access to on demand invisibility by being a stsge 4 vampire. Vampire have a passive that works on any stage that let's thrm ignore the movement speed penalty of sneaking and a stage 4 passive that lets them become invisible after running for 3 seconds (as long as you have stamina, you can run around an entire district without ever being visible).

Other than that. ZOS should definitely reevaluate the price (4-5k instead of 20k) especially when you consider how much RNG is involved and the fact that players that aren't experienced in PvP will have an easier time farming keys in comparison to the Tel Var grind.

IMO the IC sets aren't that great and you might have a better time farming other more worthwhile sets.

    Favorite Foods and Potions

    • Parse Food for PvE:(DPS) Ghastly Eye Bowl (increases Max Magicka by 4592 and Magicka Recovery by 459 for 2 hours).
    • Gold/Purple Food for Sorc PvP and Meme Tanking:(PvP) Clockwork Citrus Filet (increases Max Health by 3326, Health Recovery by 406 [useful if stage 1 vampire], Max Magicka by 3080, and Magicka Recovery by 338 for 2 hours). Witchmother's Potent Brew (Increase Max Magicka by 2856, Max Health by 3094, and Magicka Recovery by 315 for 2 hours.
    • Trash Potions when feeling cheap: Regular CP150 Essence of Magicka pots that I obtain frequently from playing the game or Crown Tri-Restoration Potion obtained from dailies.
    • Crafted Potions: Essence of Spell Critical (Bugloss, Lady's Smock, and Water Hyacinth). Without magelight this is my primary means of obtaining Major Prophecy on my Sorc, which increases my Spell Critical Rating. This also heals and restores magicka. Essence of Immovability (Columbine, Corn Flower, and Wormwood). I use this in PvP, since this gives me stealth detection, knockback immunity, and restores magicka (better to use it when competent allies are nearby, since it might reveal that you are surrounded by multiple players in stealth and you will not have an emergency pot available after use). Essence of Invisibility with only 2 ingredients (Blue Entoloma, Namira's Rot, Nirnroot, or Spider Egg). I use this in PvE content that requires stealth and if I need more speed I'll use Rapid Maneuver before using the potion. Essence of Invisibility with 3 ingredients (Blessed Thistle, Blue Entoloma, and Namira's Rot). Very useful in PvP alongside the vampire Dark Stalker passive, since you'll be invisible, ignore movement speed penalty while in Crouch, and you'll have a 30% movement speed boost from Major Expedition (I always have this slotted when riding from point A to B in PvP land, since gankers are always lurking). My templar will mostly use Essence of Health (Tri-Stat Potion) Ingredients: (Mountain Flower, Columbine, and Bugloss).

i personally would prefer to see them cheaper, as they are not curated, there are tons of things that you buy with tel var that are not curated (any of the other gear boxes to get weapons, why do you think powerful assault ice staves are going for millions right now? A) requires to farm lot of tel var to gamble on the boxes and B ) NON-CURATED experience lol)

If you REALLY want to earn tel var, never bank down to zero. The 3x modifier you get for having 1000 tel var vastly outweighs the 500 tel var you would lose from dying with it. I personally never bank down to 0 because you'll earn it so much faster right off that bat.

if you enter IC with 100 Tel Var, as soon as you reach 300 Tel Var your win if you get killed is at least the same as when you would have started with 0. 1000 Tel Var is only worth it if there are few gankers and gankgroups that can kill you and you have a high chance to get your full tel var to bank

1000 telvar is almost always worth it, even with gankers. Losing 500 is nothing, and if you're at 1000 already you'll gain tel var so much faster than if you start at 100 or 0 that you'll gain another 1000 before you know it.

On PCNA, 1 Hakeijo has been worth 30-50k gold over the past few months. Each one costs 5k Tel Var. So a 20k Tel Var shoulder piece costs 120-200k worth of gold. And that's for a random weight.

Even if they made these sets better, that's an incredibly steep cost, that IMO just isn't worth it. If it was curated, that would help.
