Costs of Ancient Sandstone for Fargrave building components

We've had this topic before, but it needs a refresher... I love the Fargrave building components, find them very inspirational and have invested quite a few crowns and resources into my "architectural dreams" over the last few months. However, the cost of Ancient Sandstone is still frustrating. Why do we need 12-16 Ancient Sandstones for a suspension bridge or a tent, which are obviously made of wood, ropes and textiles? It's completely illogical. Also, the Ancient Sandstone is only found in Craglorn, so it has nothing to do with Fargrave – if we would also get it from Fargrave dailies, ok, but in this form the costs are just exaggerated and it would be really nice if they were reduced at least a bit. Thanks!

Furniture should only require 1 style stone per piece the same as gear does.

That or add style stone that can't be bought from vendors with gold to the writ voucher merchant.

I think ZOS need to have a think about whether what appears to be a deliberate strategy of making the housing game so unbearable that people are forced to the crown store really makes sense in business terms. Because if you annoy players so much that they head, not to the crown store, but to the exit because the game is so joyless to play, that is in the long run not more revenue, but no revenue and reputational damage that will never go away.

By default, any player who cares a jot about housing has already been obliged to pay for a subscription to get the increased slot limit. By default, any player who wants literally any of the newer, big houses has had to buy it from the crown store at prices that are more than what a full triple A game costs in real life money -- for a digital house. If you want flowers that don't look like weeds, crown store. If you want a small piece of liquid water, crown store. If you want a statue that doesn't look like it was made from plastic, crown store. And then with the stuff you actually CAN get in the game world it will take a month to get enough materials to make a single piece.

I mean, seriously, this does not come across as a company that wants to give players a fun experience. It looks like a company that sees its players as walking wallets to be gouged of every last penny and it leaves a really bad taste in the mouth.

(It is also the field of play where the conflict between solo players doing the most solo activity in the game -- housing -- and the game's bizarre trading system is most obvious and acute. Selling things is gated behind guilds which, unsurprisingly, are highly unattractive to many solo players. The only other option is spamming zone chat, which is a ridiculous way to sell items. There is no proper mechanism simply to be able to sell stuff from time to time so that players can keep track with the prices in the player economy, when housing more or less depends on buying from other players at the prevailing prices because so many materials are needed in large quantities, and so many furnishing plans are improbably rare. It would take you a year plus to be able to furnish a house, otherwise, or... The crown store.

But that is a whole different discussion and one which ZOS appears completely unwilling to entertain because they made guild trading one of their sacred cows.)

I don't think it's a big deal they are asking for the sandstone, but if it's going to cost that much it should drop really easily. In fact, housing mats in general should drop far more. Give us a guaranteed 20 sandstone with each daily we do for Fargrave so that we can make any Fargrave furniture we want when we finally get the plans.

The plans are already rare, there is no reason the materials should be too. Outside of the gold mats, which are used by other crafts. Housing shouldn't be hit with rarity and high prices for every single last thing.

Daedra hearts also went up in price drastically when Deadlands furniture came out and after many months the price went down again. to simply put give it time because fargrave furniture is the new "hot" item currently and it will go down.

Same with Dwemer frame style stones... which are made from dwemer scraps to boot... I guess it's a way to spend gold by buying stones that are sold on the vendor (and this gold leaves the game, so it's like a sink, which are generally needed) but probably the biggest factor is to make crown furnishings a more attractive option.

The ancient sandstone is not only found in Craglorn, I've found it elsewhere. Search enough rune locations and you'll get them eventually.

I had to buy a few stacks on console last month and the price was surprisingly reasonable. A few hundred each I think. I know you're using a lot but it still works out the same cost wise as furnishings that use 1-2 Hackwing Plummage etc.

I'm actually hoping they do this again so style mats from places like Hews Bane and the Gold Coast become worth something.

Maybe on console its cheaper, close to 2k per on PC NA and that price is pretty steady for months now

Yes, Craglorn, higher level treasure chests may have 1, possibly. Hel Ra citadel chest may have 1 or 2 over a trial run, possibly.

It's really the number needed rather than the individual price - style mats for furnishing is usually 1 to 3 at most depending on green/blue/purple level of the item being built. For the new Fargrave stuff you need way more 6 to16 per item

Also daily rewards in other zones that may have the plan/blueprint usually has a chance at 1 of the style pieces, if not guaranteed 1 ( see Summerset ). This is another issue with the Fragrave ones. You need more and there is no reliable source in the zone that gives it.

Months of request for this to be looked at have been ignored.

This is why I never sell mats. I’ve been farming Craglorn for years and have about 1k of these. I don’t need them now, but I keep them in case I might. That’s a lot of time invested there. If I sell them for cheap and need them later and have to buy expensive then it’s a loss.

Yes, requiring that many of any style mat for one item is too much. I agree. Just like mundane runes.

The furnishing style mat problem really needs to be addressed. All these posts about needing gold sinks, why can’t you just buy these like enchanting runes if you need them?
