Reformation of the cities of Tamriel.

Hello, good afternoon.

As the title says, the cities of Tamriel look small with few people on the streets.

The cities of Tamriel should be like the city of Novigrad from The Witcher 3.

With people on the streets discussing their worldly affairs.

A hug and a kiss community.

While I'm always happy about more immersion there's one thing I would wonder about: Where would all these people live? Actually, that's a thing I've been wondering about all the time. Logically, they would have to have a place to stay somewhere. But if you look how many people walk around, for example, in Vulkhel Guard, and now little houses there are... At least half of the population must be homeless! Same goes for many other towns in ESO. The cities are just too small.

ESO cities should be huge and worthy of the label. However the only actual city sized hubs we get, are actually Public Dungeons. Sunhold, Orcrest, the one in Blackwood I forget the name.

    Its saddening.

I would love to see an ESO zone that is a sprawling urban landscape, Much like IC, That sort of thing is missing from this game.

The DLC could be called: "The Cities of Tamriel" and could be released in the year of ESO's 10th anniversary.

Well when you think about it the entirety of, say, Daggerfall province is incredibly tiny in ESO considering it's supposed to be a large province. Glenumbra to Bangkorai is like the size of my home town but it's supposed to be an entire province. Daggerfall and Wayrest are about as large as the local mall lol.

Compare it to how massive it was in Daggerfall 1996. The city of Daggerfall in that game is a little closer to a realistic size and scale and the overland map is massive, like mind-bogglingly massive. Very close to a realistic scale.

I don't think we will see realistic-sized cities and maps in a MMORPG for a very long time.

Hi, I'd say, use more of your imagination, you don't need a hundred of citizens crawling a city. In TESV SKYRIM there was a few men, woman and maybe 2 children for a single city and nobody was complaining, everyone was having fun with what was given to us. Here also try to get the most fun of what you got. In fact the ESO cities are really crowded in comparison to TESV SKYRIM cities, so I see no reason why to increase the population. The missing population you really need in cities are the players who should fill this crowd.
The Witcher was made under different rules than MMO, so imo not a best example and comparison. Skyrim probably also isn't best but I did not find any better ;).

While I love immersion and busy cities, it's honestly worthless if there's nothing to do.

I have noticed lately, that I enjoy small scaled games, even linear games more if the story is focussed and the activities are rich in depth.

I've had it with big open worlds filled with lame content where all you can do is take a mission or two from a faction to just kill monster A or B.

Looking at ESO, I've been enjoying their latest content quite a bit, and by default I often like the smaller zone DLCs better.

Now this doesn't mean the cities couldn't use a bit of a face lift and I don't mind some extra NPCs, what would really liven things up is adding driving carts, mounted npcs roaming the streets, etc...

I'm jusr saying, based on feedback above, that making them larger isn't what I'm looking for.

I wish the cities of ESO had bathhouses, that you would have to pay gold to enter and other services in the cities like in The Witcher 3 (where is that sexual Argonian maiden?).

I don't really want to crash into an NPC when riding through cities to get from point A to point B due to there being a maze like crowd of them everywhere I go in cities.

I understand what you're saying but...

That isn't going to work that well because lately we have a lot of players in most cities...I know the hate machine will swear and be dammed that the game is basically empty..but it's just not true. I was in Riften (freaking Riften ) last night and people were crowded around a main story quest giver...you basically had to wait your turn (which I really detest) I'm worried that adding more NPC's while very immersive will suck up Bandwidth and cause lag.

If anything they should finally give us an option to change instances of the game...it would solve so many issues, because right now there is a metric *** ton of people playing... but I do get your meaning in spirit...I use this one mod in Skyrim called interesting NPC's..it gives the game so much more life and yes that would be awesome for ESO

Presumably Novigrad took several years to develop just on its own. And with good reason -- a good 1/3 of the entire game is set there. If you think about it, it's as big as some entire zones in ESO in terms of the amount of content and detailing, and everything in it has been laid out by hand. It's plain unrealistic to expect that for every city in ESO.

If you've ever played a single-player Elder Scrolls game, you know how it works:

    - Join the Fighters Guild and you'll always have a free place to sleep!
    - Join the Mages Guild and you'll always have a free place to sleep!
    - Join the Thieves Guild and you'll always be able to break into other people's houses and have a free place to sleep!
    - Anyone who doesn't choose one of those options must go far enough beyond the city limits to have a free place to sleep.

Can you imagine the server strain! Yikes. They are already trying to find ways to relieve server strain, adding more NPC rendering would only make it worse.

So all those npcs in town, who are most probably not part of any guild, sleep somewhere in the wilderness? Including the town crier in Vulkhel Guard, most merchants and artisans, and of course all city guards (as most cities don't have a casern)?
