Someone wants to decorate our guild hall. Can I let him do this without worrying about anyone taking all my Attunables or transmute station and other stuff? If so how do I make him decorator? Thanks.

"decorator" players cannot place items, or pick up items from the house they are decorating so they cannot "take" anything in the house, just move it around

in the housing menu, if you go to place an item menu and then click the last tab on the right for house settings, there should be an option in there for decorators and you can add someone by @ handle to be a specific decorator so not everyone can move stuff around

i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (in progress being filled out), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

You make him decorator inside the furnishing screen (whatever the hot key is default - mine's not on the default). A decorator it plainly says in the interface can "move your furnishings but not remove them from the house".

You do not have a guild hall as there is no such thing in ESO. It is your home and everything in it is bound to you. Pick an item up that goes into your inventory and you will see it is bound.

So they should not be able to take anything.

Ok so I have to manually craft everything, then lay down

Aren’t there some furnishings like transmute station that isn’t bound once you lay it down? And the rare velothi furniture. That stuff can be set down, then picked up and sold later right?

You can set someone as decorator under your house permissions tab. They can only move objects in your home and cannot add or remove into their inventory.

Also if the house has an inside/outside they cannot move items between the two.

    Best of luck!

most furnishings are bind on pickup, so as soon as you obtain it it will be bound, or it will never bind

attuned crafting stations bind after you actually attune them, which is the only exception

Yes, but the only person who can pick them up into their inventory is the owner of the house. "Decorators" are not able to do that.

If this other player does anything else to grief your house (hiding furniture by clipping them into the ground etc.) I believe you can report it to ZOS and they actually take action.

Item binding is seperate to the permission to add and remove furniture in a house. Even if the furnishing isn't bound, even if it will stay unbound after being placed, it can't be taken by anyone else. Only the owner of a house can place furnishings and only the owner can remove them. Visitors can interact with crafting tables and other interactable furnishings, and decorators can move them around but that's all.

Just to clarify this, since the first part of that first statement might be misleading, most furnishings don't bind at all. The main exceptions, aside from attuned crafting stations, are achievement furnishings and antiquities, and those are always bound. Simply placing a not-already-bound furnishing item in your house will not bind it to you (or the house), and if you wanted you could remove it and sell it or whatever later.

If you want to have someone else decorate your house, you'll have to be the one who obtains and places all of the furniture in the house. If they have items they'd like to use, they'll need to send or trade them to you so you can place them. Then, once you've given them Decorator permissions, they'll be able to move placed furnishings around. Decorators can't take anything out, so the only real danger is that they'd move around stuff you already have in a way that is not helpful.

Once you have given the person decorator permission they can re-position any item that is moveable within that house.

They cannot remove anything from the house but neither can they personally add new items....

So for your decorator to design whatever they wish to build, they will have to either give you a list of furnishings they require or send those items too you.....

You will then need to place those items within your house but once they are there your decorator can move them about as he/she likes. It's a bit of a lengthy proccess but it does ensure nothing can be removed from the house.

As far as bound or unbound furniture is concerned, achievement furnishings are bound, items brought with crowns are bound, crafted furniture is not usually bound but the psijic merchants items are iirc, Luxury Vendor items are never bound. Items that are not bound do not become bound by placing in a house, you can always remove those at a later date and trade them. 😀

Even if the furnishing is not bound, they cannot take a single item from your home. Once it is set in your house, only YOU can store it back in your inventory.

People with decorator permission can only pick up items and place them down somewhere else. But they cannot take ANY furnishing item in this game out of your house and steal it for themselves.

However they also cannot place any items down either. If you want a table in your house that you don't have and they do, they'll need to trade you the item and YOU need to initially put it down first before they can move it around in your home. If the item is not in your house when they're moving things, they can't put an item in there themselves from their own inventory. Only YOUR items from YOUR inventory can be in the house. So make certain you place the items you want in there are down before they move it around to decorate the place.

Not sure why you would give permissions to someone you don’t trust.

Adding to this if you have a home with indoor and outdoor areas you have to put the items in the appropriate place. A decorator can't pick up an item outside your home and then place it inside.
