Bugged long quest lines in High Isle need waypoint sub-quests instead of abandoning fully restarting

So far in High Isle I have come across two quests that were bugged and required abandoning/restarting to complete the quests.
The two quests were Ember's initial quest when trying to turn the guar back into a human and Escape From Amenos when trying to meet with the queen (she wasn't there).
Each time I submitted a /bug and was told to abandon the quest and restart. Since I was near the end of these quests, restarting from the very beginning of each quest was not fun. I would much rather break quests up into multiple sub-quests for each major action you perform than having to restart from the very beginning of these quests.

TagCdog✭✭I tried to complete Escape From Amenos again and the quest bugged again! If you go ahead of Caska to the next search site before she gets there, she will not continue and requires you to abandon the quest.
This sucks! To start the quest again you have to go all the way back to Gonfalon Bay, then to Dufort Shipyards, then to Amenos Station, then into the jungle, etc... That is a lot of progress undone!1 -

✭Sorry for the necro but I have to vent.
I just started the entire main quest for High Isle, and my quest "Search the crypts" just completely bugged. I looked up a youtube video and you're supposed to read a note and then lady whats-her-face tells you to clear a path and you can pass into the next room.
My quest marker stays on the note even after I read it over and over again. Reload UI doesn't work, disabling addons doesn't work, exiting the game doesn't work. When I try to enter the next room it says "you cannot use that door right now."
So now I have to start the entire main High Isle quest again with no guarantee that it will even work this time, since I have no idea what might have cause the bug. I just followed my quest markers like any other quest.
I agree with OP, there should be a better checkpoint system.
And also how is the MAIN QUEST for an entire DLC this buggy for so many people? It's inexcusable.
I can put with a lot of crap in video games, especially something as vast as ESO with all their side quests. But when you can't even progress in a very, very simple task (read a fricken' note!!!) on the first branch of the main quest for the entire DLC, that is just sheer incompetence of the highest degree.
Same kind of crap happened to me at the end of the Blackwood zone when Mehrunes Dagon completely froze in place and I couldn't progress. It's so infuriating that a company with a literal money-printing machine can't even get basic crap like this done correctly.
