For their price, assistants should do more...

Agreed assistants are overpriced, however I suspect they also generate a lot of income for the company so they leave them at that price most of the time.

They probably do not want assistants to be a full substitute for going to towns, as that would also devalue trading guilds which just like real world merchants require people coming in, although they do help reduce the need to go to town.

Would only purchase when crown store is on sale, and then wait for assistants to have a discount.

Sincerely speaking, looking at the Crown Store consumables cost I'd say even Crown Store potions should provide a banker/merchant functionality.

What they should have done was make assistants obtainable in-game like Pirharri was, and then just monetize reskins for the them instead. They could have easily made one single assistant which does everything as well. Getting real tired of this piecemeal monetization.
