Do cone/ground attacks count as AOE damage?

I am trying to figure out my champion points for a damage dealer character, however I am confused for the AOE damage boost champion point. Does it only affect skills that specifically say AOE or does ground and cone attacks count as well?
Never played as a damage dealer before so I'm just confused.
