Month, day, year isn't a real date. It's an absurd middle-endian monstrosity. Day, month, year (or year, month, day) would be fine.

They used to do notice of event dates weeks in advance, but after a while they stopped. IIRC, it had something to do with disruptive server problems that they did not foresee, which caused delays and led to player dissatisfaction. So now they wait until the planned time is much closer.

For reasons not completely known, they have great difficulties announcing many things with more than a few days notice. If we get to the point where ZOS is able/willing to announce events with more notice, a calendar will be a great idea.

This is a very common request from players, but for some reason ZOS don't like giving us more than a few days notice.

They did try at one point, if I remember correctly they did a quarterly announcement on the website with dates for the first event a week or two in advance and approximate dates for the others that quarter, which was going to be updated for each event. Then for some reason the second announcement was in the background of an unrelated live stream where not many people noticed it, and after that they stopped doing them again.

But it would be very helpful to have more notice, I know a lot of guilds and other community groups get frustrated when they have to reschedule their events at short notice because an official one has started and of course everyone wants to do that instead.

ESO's "calendar" for events (on the website) is "peculiar": it only has records of past events, no records for incoming events. Which means it's not really a calendar, it's just an archive...

I wish ZOS would always announce upcoming events which have event tickets at least one week before they start. Recently I think they have been doing that. Even with the one week notice, I have missed portions of events because other stuff got scheduled on my calendar. So more notice would be appreciated.

Why would you go out of you way to say "The First of May" When "May First" suffices. That's it. That's the philosophy of M D Y a smooth translation between written and spoken language.

and before you go off being like "That barely saves time why bother?" We are all lazy & have symbols for 2 & 3 letter words. Get @ me.

It could always be worse, i.e “In the year of our lord, two thousand two hundred and twenty two, in the grand month of June, harken all ye that there will be a stupendous, wondrous NEW event dedicated to Stendarr the Steadfast, the God of Mercy, Charity, Well-Earned Luck, and Justice.”

Then the question is, do you occasionally disappoint players by pushing back scheduled dates or do you consistently annoy players by waiting until the last minute to announce things.

There is a negative effect to either choice and it will affect people differently. I'd rather have a date announced far ahead of time and then sometimes having to bump it so the current system of announcing at the last minute makes no sense to me. ZOS has determined they would rather do it the way they do.

Just as a note, we've known that High Isle will be going live on June 6 (on PC at least) for months. That was able to be scheduled months in advance so we know they are able to do it if they want to or if it's a large enough project.

I get the impression that ZOS is just flying by the seat of their pants with ESO going on a couple years now. So they can't be relied upon to meet exact dates and deadlines, so they can't post what release dates are going to be because they don't know themselves. "They're working on it" all the time though.

Nobody cares about that, the only thing is that month has to stay in the middle. That's it.

I do think they are flying by the seat of their pants as far as events go.

It isn't about deadlines, it is just that I don't think they know when the events are going to be, either. At some point, they decide on a date, and it is probably just a couple weeks in advance of when they want to do it. Just enough lead time to write marketing materials and do any new artwork for the web page. Then, a few days before it actually happens, they let us know.

It would be interesting to find out exactly what happens, and how many times it gets rescheduled before they nail down a date.
