I don't understand how I can still be this weak at LEVEL 9.
All of my quests are now 1 level above me which means I can't do them at all because I can't kill a single mob a level over me.
People ingame tell me I need to make and enchant my own gear to play which sounds really, really boring.
Where can I find out how to craft stuff? Do I need to talk to an NPC to pick up that profession, do I need to use a special worktable for each profession? There has been absolutely 0 mention of anything crafting in the game so far except that I've picked up one or two mats.
Is the gear I craft that much better than what I find?
Well gritting my teeth through it won't work. I've been gritting my teeth and now have only come to the forums for help because I'm completely incapable of doing any more quests. How do I progress at all from here if I go back and don't find any other lower quests I missed?

Did you do the starter island? If you didn't then I would recommend you go back for the 2 skill pointe in the form of the 6 skyshards that's there.
In beta-8, when I first played, I struggled a little but you do adapt and you will get better. I would suggest if all else fails, roll a Sorcerer or a Templar and go sword and board, with the NB I had the hardest time back in the betas. Sorcerer is a doddle to level and just got mine to almost VR2, Templar is simply easy mode on steroids and that's why most bots are that class. I'm not saying you stop the NB but play a easier class until you feel confident enough to level the NB. Always complete coldharbour (XP + 50 lockpicks) and always do the starter areas as you should stay 1-2 levels above content if you're a completionist like me (do the quest achievements). Good luck and don't give up!
