How to make game better ?
I think, that the answer is simple. And here i will wright about it.

First i start with what i DID NOT LIKE !

1) Do not remake old content. Do not remake old sets !!!, CP and etc !!! Do not break skills, do not remove old good staff !

2) Do not force players for content they do not want ! As example with vMA where old weapon was moved to nMA and new perfected was added to vMA.

The right solution if you wanted to add new weapon was:
Change existed weapon to perfected. Because it was get the same way after you changes. And than add new simpler weapon to nMA !

3) Do not break/rework old good content people like !!! Only add new !

--- --- ---

What to do now with ALL this BAD changes, that was already added ?

1) CP 2-0 was bad change - it killed build crafting, that was cool in CP 1-0.

But it will take a lot of resources to remake it back, so what is possible to do.

Players BARs - are limited - 10 skills and 2 ultimates.

Add new cool skills in CP system, not useless active stars.

As example skills like:
a)Summon combat pet like Sorc has - as example Fire Atronach.
b)Restricted version of sorcs "Streak" skill, as example - streak back, or streak in direction you press, but not in big range (10 meters).
c)Invisiability skill like NB or Potions have, with example - after use your attack power drops down 2 times for all invis duration + 2-3 seconds.
d)DK chain like skill.
e) AOE taunt and AOE pool ability for high end players, that may be open on 2000+ CP, to make their dayly live in random dunguans more simple and that is not game breaking.
f) Skill that break cast (bash) on distant 28 meters (to not remorpgh current skills if you use other morph and need it to bash target sonewhere).
g) Finisher skill - like as example templar have with beam for PVE purpose.

All already existing starrs make possible to use on 1000-1200 CP, to let use points for that skills.

--- --- ---

Sets and skills:

1) Revert changes to HA sets, like undaunted infiltrator was before to values 1200 add to LA and each hit of HA.
Change its values to not stamina/mana - crit/crit/crit or SPD-WPD*2 /crit.

Power UP HA star in CP system to 20-25%+ damage from HA.

HA is big lose of damage in PVE - so it is needed to compencate it.

Add star to protect from HA by 25-30%, if it is OP in PVP, to let players who do not like such builds protect from it.

2) Add protections from all different OP sets and skills with new add in CP system for PVP as active star in future to prevent PVE sets and skills changes !!!

3) Revert all changes to wings and DK ultimates that was made in fun part of it.

a) Wings - must reflect projectiles like before. But its number can be limited by 1-3 attacks.
With current game changes 1 morph needs to remove 1-3 debuffs + effect, other reflect more projectails or hit harder.
b) DK LEAP ultimate - needs to let jump on any target, any wall in PVP if it is in range and enemy is there.

It is fun, it is ultimate !

But counterbalance it with as example 2 skills in CP system (or any where):
I) Spammable - hits target with 6 strikes - to pass through wings and hit more than it reflects.
II) Ultimate like Psidjick order but with effect - move target back, where it was 10 seconds before.
It will counterplay this DK leap.

The same way after DK leap he can be removed back with ultimate or - fire klench like standart ability - to push him away.

4) Balance all damage with sets that it be 100-110 k for perfect rotation, 120 k for sets from new dlc, than move its value to 110 k.

If proc sets are too OP - add CP star to prevent PROC sets damage, healing and shielding of hitted enemy as example.

5) Add different options of do DPS, not only LA+Skill. Add option to do the same 100 k dps with HA+ Skill rotation, as example with lightning staff weapons - it will ve a lot of love to it.

6) Return PROC damage sets to tanks !!! Make lower limit how set can hit. As example 7k spd - set hits like X. Make its minimal hit value 2X/3 as example.

--- ALL GAME FIX ---

Cats, dogs, and etc. is good. Helping themis good but ... game works bad in PVP !!! Skills do not press.

Make as example already existing model of some mob as no combat pet and sell it - money from its selling - spend on NEW SERVER FOR PVP, to make players play normally with out lags !!! As example as some action limited time sail.

( Use no combat pets look on combat pets )

--- PVE FIX ---

1) Stop rework old sets, make revert if some good sets and skills and stop fixing it !!! Add new, do not break old !

2) Add undaunted ultimate.

3) Make HA sets revert as i say before and add more game styles different from LA to play !

4) ADD - reskins for Sorcs /Vardens PETS !!! As example from existing not combat pets models.
ADD combat pet SKILL from CP - that is possible to use for each class with the same rules !

Get money from it - selling reskins and BUY new server, optimization do not work !!! To much people play, skills do not press in PVP !!! All will be happy.

--- PVP FIX ---

1) Make a active star to see NB in 15 meters around you.
2) Make Sorcs immposible to streak 5-6 seconds after using pooling ability on them.
3) Return DK wings and change leap as i write before and add counetplay skills.
4) Make rebalance on current changes to make good damage and defence values !

5) When you will add new or some thing is OP - do not NERF it !!! Add counterplay active skills in CP system or anywhere else ! As examples i show before. To negate OP skills effect with it.

6) Remove cheat healing !!! Only 1 effect of mutagen/vigor effect on target as for major buffs !!!
Or add ability to rewert HOTS healing with DOTS like damage from it instead to let them feel all the pain from such cheating play !

7) Add skill to remove 1-3 possitive effects (not drink and food and etc) from the target (dispell)

--- PVE and PVP ---

Add option to ON/OFF pvp in Cyrodill and become neutrall player with 20 hours call down.
As example false documents, so ebemy do not knows that you are from not their fraction as example - Good allyance with arrow in knee so cant fight ! If some one do not want fight and want do guests whyle war is near them - ok ! Do not force them. They will see all this and do PVE, it is good option.

Add new TASKS in Cyrodill.

Castles and weapons needs bullets !!! So as mini event caravan goes to castles to give weapons to it. Add caravans as example or some thing like that to protect and deliver bullets.If it is destroyed enemy gets AP,else you get free seige weapons as example !

Add legendary enemy to overlands !!! Like event, in once a 7 days.

As example once a day or weak/month - reincornation of really hard boss appears in world and needs to fight with 50-100 people. Like dolmens but such hard and epic that 30 minutes or an hour us needed to kill it. Raid fat bosses. With good money rewards as example. Not like simple dragons in elswair, as example more clewrr, more hard hitting and much more fat, as about 30 * 60 * 100 * 50 k HP. Really legendary enemys.

(30 minutes * 60 seconds in minutes * 100k dps * 50 people)

--- Companions ---

1) Add ability to use Skinns on them, use Hairstyles/helmets.

2) Power companions UP.
Add no calldown to some spammable skills, as example Snipe, lava whip and etc.

3) Let Sword and board companion always block attacks, because companion only can taunt only 1 target and it will not be a problem.

4) Let companions use not seporated gear but players gear with some restriction. May be even proc sets, like Ebon armor as example:
a) Companions attack = value on weapon.
b) Def = def on gear.
c) 2-4 sets bonuses are ignored
e) 5 item set bonuses and may be monster helmet procs works, but with limited power.(Companion has low attack power so it is not OP)

It will let players more build craft and have fun. Buff companion and may be even use it in simple raids, or watch how buff sets from companions work on them and may be learn to use such sets more in future PVE play on themselves.

--- Emotions ---
If you have bath in game - add bath emote.
If you have tea cup add drink amoution.
Just a simpke lojick to let people roleplay in their houses.

--- Addons ---

Pls add some in game functions like Mini - Map and Dressing room. Hide group members and see Crown/Role icon On it - for people with bad PC.

If such options exist it can let a lot of us delete addons and do not use it. Not all players like addons, but some addons are really nesessary.

--- Forever in combat BUG ---

If character sit and get damage he stand up. If character sit 7-10 seconds and get no damage - he hide and lives combat.

Or make a seporate button - press - cast 5-10 seconds if no hit and live combat.

If no other way to fix bug atleast add this !

    This is a physical view of how spaghetti coded ESO is at this point. All your requests for something not getting broken or changed with updates are impossible unless you feel you could reach in there and fix a singluar network issue without affecting other parts of the network.

    Eh, well... your heart seems to be in the right place I guess.

    I agree that a lot of the updates to older sets have missed their mark and should have instead been completely new sets. Ravager and Deadly Strikes come to mind. But sets like Shadow Dancer's Raiment, which is getting updated soon, are definitely better off being updated. Everyone can reduce the sneak penalty through CP or vampirism or by being a Nightblade. The updated version makes you dodge all incoming attacks for one second after leaving invisibility or stealth. That's an infinitely better effect and makes the useless old set fun and useful. Since the game keeps changing and new combinations of sets or skills become possible as more things are added, the old sets and skills need to be updated too. It's simply necessary. And because the people at ZOS are only human and can also make mistakes, sometimes the updated versions end up being bad. I just hope that ZOS can start admitting their mistakes sooner and update things they broker earlier than after 3 months have passed.

    Fixing things like proc damage isn't as simple as adding a CP node that says "reduces proc damage" either. The game doesn't have a category called "proc", that's just how we as players perceive it. On the backend there are lots and lots of different checks being done for each and every single ability, that includes nonproc attacks like skills too. An example of such a check is "does the player have line of sight towards the target?" If the answer is "no", then the skill won't fire. And if the server is very busy due to many players being active the time to make all the necessary checks increases and thus skills stop firing right in many situations. And fixing the servers is not nearly as simple either. From the looks of it ZOS likely had to go through a lot of trouble to justify getting new hardware to their higher-ups by basically having to rule out every other possibility with absolute certainty (through the performance tests that seemingly changed nothing).
    Similarly you also can't balance sets with some arbitrary number like 100k dps. How much a set is capable of doing depends on your build and there are a ton of possibilities there to consider to the point that it's impossible to know without testing.

    CP2.0 is actually very good and offers a lot of different choices for different builds. I don't know what you found so exciting about the old CP when it was pretty much the same on every single build because there were no trade-offs. The only thing that annoys me is that many things in the Green constellation, like Treasure Hunter, now need to be heavily invested into and then slotted, which offers just as little freedom as CP1.0 because they are so much more needed than the fun ones you actually want to be using.

    Tl;dr: None of it is as easy or simple as as you think it is, OP.

    Because i made 150+ runs there, and than 150+ runs there again ))) The same a lot of my friends from clan ... . So it was not some thing happy.

    People with 500+ runs there hate that place even if they finally get that weapon and cry when it finnaly drops.

    After new system when with garanty you get weapon in 10-15 runs ... just think how you burn with all this, including the fact, that in old system - you can get 10 swords per 10 run and it is even chance, that you will newer get item you want ;)

    So after all that stress players get, than same again and than - after it becomes casual place ... it is not some thing happy for a lot of players at all.

    Yes I understand difficulty of current situations, thats why I say it is simpler add new based on what already exist and do not change old, may be only some numbers a little.

    the OP is very difficult to understand, but i think many of these things are no longer issues (MA weapon change), request for new features (companion set gear and emotes), or "whining" about gankers in pvp (asking for a cp star that would absolutely destroy any usage of stealth in pvp)

    out of these items the only ones i could possibly see being useful would be adding set gear for companions so there is a little more to their build than simply traits on gear

    not making any changes to "old" content is just asking for stagnation as effects could be useless or made useless through new updates (such as treasure hunter/toothrow being virtually 99% identical due to hybridization is a good example of this)

    I read all of the "Fix your game!!!!!!!omgwtfbbq" post and I'm reminded of that...the SOE devs came in and they listened, they really did listen (Raph koster wrote many eloquent articles about this) and the result was NGE.

    Devs actually got death threats.

    Also if you want to see spaghetti code take a look at (if you could) Microsoft Excel 2020...there is code there from 1985 I know I use to work on Enterprise software.

    Game development is hard...it is different from Enterprise development and a lot of that is due to the unwillingness of developers to share knowledge, and you can't just start firing people until you get the Kumba-ya group, because there just aren't that many people who are willing to code for $50k or less a year.

    ESO is miles away better than it was at beta, and miles away better than it was at launch, and miles away better than it was at the Summerset expansion.... et al.

    The take away is no one is going to write a magic post that solves their perceived problems and makes the entire ESO community happy.

    It would just become NGE.

    I'm not trying to be an ass and I love you guys...but let us remember things (looks at World Of Warcraft) could be so... so much worse.

    Game development is not inherently harder than many other kinds of development.

    The problem is the true lack of competition in the field, so people will not switch to get a better performing system, etc. World of Warcraft was king of the hill for quite a while and is only now seeing a drop from that, due to huge missteps over many years.

    What would most playing ESO go play? I personally tried the FFIV free part and I didn't like the interface myself. Yet it got a lot more hoopla than ESO has. What could I go play otherwise that would be around for quite a while, not just a couple of years?

    Companies that do not have major competitors usually fail to innovate and even fix many operational problems.

    That is where we are now.

    I will agree that refactoring the entire code would be very difficult at this point and is unlikely to happen. They don't even seem to seriously fix many visible bugs that have been around for years and get regular comments/complaints. They will not delay a major update release like the one in June because that would not generate extra income, though each issue often becomes another straw on the camel's back.

    I will note that some things can get fixed: The guy buried in rock in the Clockwork City zone is out now, I believe. But far more things are still in, like not having the right ladder quest markers in the IC AD area. Even a change to make that easier (and prevent so many needless rezones) to pick up dailies on a quest board instead of first going up and down each ladder in series is not done. (I did notice the quest givers know you have done their quest before, so putting these on a quest board in the base should be a lot simpler than it might seem.

    Many other examples exist. How many times have each of you either found a bug noted 5 or more years ago in an old forum thread when searching? Or find the same QoL recommendation come up over the same or even a longer period?

    This is likely to eventually cause major impacts, but not for a while most likely. Too much rambling on my part now.

    What types?

    I have worked on both Enterprise and Entertainment as it pertains to Co-op and MMO's the later is much more complex, has a much longer work week and pays the least, and has much less job security.

    Folks are game devs because they love the industry warts and all...People develop Enterprise software because they want to live in a upper middle class neighborhood and drive a nice SUV or Sports car.

    As for the rest of your post I can't argue with you...I will say I am happy I no longer stand in my seat while riding a Horse nor do I kick my Bow between my legs while running along.

    I think the devs were shamed into fixing those after the "Beloved feature" comment at the Bethesda Greymoor reveal.

    Still I can take you to every other MMO and show you bugs that make some in ESO look tame...Folks expect more from a TES MMO and they should. like you said it is a lack of competition...but that's not going to change.

    As for the card game I think folks are going to be surprised that it will actually be popular.....it will give people something to kick around on the forums besides crown crates

    The game development is the same development as any program development. I am programmer my self, so ... a lot of people say about how hard it is but - it is the same work as any other. And in each work you need to fix bugs, mistakes and rework some content and do new content.

    So ... a lot of comments here looks strange for me.

    And by the way long time ago to do simple games was one of my hobbys. Including server simple games so ... .
    I am not writing about some thing magick, not impossible and etc.
    If some ideas are bad - just better tell why and not to tell that it is hard, impossible and etc.
    Because it is not really true.

    The original post went on for so long, I eventually skipped over much of it, but a couple things stood out to me. First, the statement about not giving us old things seemed to be completely subverted by later requests to revert skills to old versions. I don’t think you can call for progress by reverting progress.

    The other is regarding the original Champion Points system, which was completely stalled for progression after the low point of achieving 810 CP. I personally had achieved that on two accounts by the time it changed, and had seen no progression of any sort for years. Admittedly, the new system suffers from most of the same issues, except with a higher limit and different ways of limiting choices, but it is a more potentially flexible system than the old one.
