Update 34 nerf to tank CP nodes.

Nerfing the tank nodes is rediculous.

For those that don’t know, the four cp nodes in warfare that give 10% mitigation to various sources, will only give 6% if update 34 goes live as is.

I just want to voice my opinion that this is horrible. Is that really the value of the big bombshell nodes that we only get to choose four? 6%? It’s rediculous.

My speculation is that this was an attempt to dial back dps, and for balance reasons you felt the need to keep the damage boosts and mitigation boosts at the same value.

PLEASE consider the math on this. You will see that the end result of me picking ALL FOUR mitigation nodes, will only make me 13.2% harder to kill than a player ignoring those nodes. (I’m rounding up). Is that what CP has to offer me as a PvE tank? It’s a joke.

The math for those who care

The four nodes are actually each two sets of complimentary mitigation. Any damage taken is

Either AoE or single target

It is also

Either damage over time or direct.

So taking all four means on ANY hit, two of the 6% mitigations apply. The are multiplicative. So the same getting through goes like this.

100 damage value
100*0.94*0.94= 88.36

We see 88.36 damage gets through, I’m mitigating 11.64% from these four nodes.

To see the effect that has on 100 health we divide by damage percent getting through.

100/0.8836=113.17.

13.17% increase in the damage it takes to kill me if I take all four nodes. Hurray!

FYI previously at 10% values it was 23.5% increase to the damage needed to kill you.

At this new value it does not sufficiently distinguish me as what I’m trying to be, and that is the point of the four slottable CP nodes.

We need less tanky people in PVE and PVP so its a good thing. For the tanks their should be better special custom tanks CP options not just flat x% less damage its very boring.

So good change, please add more interesting flavors for tanks in CP which are unique and work in certian situations really well.

As longtime tank that habitually runs dungeon finder PUGs through vet DLC dungeons, shrugging off more damage is pretty dang exciting.

Cheapening the utility of CP stars in general is very disappointing. It's not just the most used tank stars, it's every star that is "meta" for every build. DD's are getting the same nerf for the warfare stars they use as well.
ZOS's reasoning is they want us to use the janky "contextual" stars where you have to play a mini-game of meeting conditions to get a decent boost of damage reduced or done and say it would lead to unwanted power creep to buff them to compete instead of nerfing what's meta right now.

The problem is that playing as tanks is the most dull, boring, experience in this whole game:
Vateshran will punish you for failing a DPS check
Your resistances are mostly insignificant, especially in PvP, and yet the damage you sacrifice is MASSIVE, you'll NEVER be able to kill other players in PvP as a tank.
You have no way to engage in any sort of combat other than being the DPS' towel holder and a meat shield
There's NO POINT in building an awesome tank since mechanics will still one-shot you if you don't hide behind a pillar
Creative solutions like mist form are now deprecated

So what can a Tank do to have fun?
Simple: Use armory to switch to a damage build instead.

This is why people don't like playing support roles anymore, that's why we get fake tanks in dungeons for quicker access.
I've been tanking as a main ever since I got this game on consoles, and only until I switched to DPS I started enjoying the rest of the game, PvP included.

To top it off, there are no plans on making support roles any fun to play, we're just getting nerfed, skills that should've been for tanks are now being changed for DPS (like power slam), and with the massive numbers that this game deals with, you don't even need to tank, you just need massive healing bursts, in PvP modes, you get points for dealing damage or healing, there's nothing in PvP that requires tanks, considering nobody plays objectives in battlegrounds anyway.

In PvP TTK is ridiculously low.
If ZOS nerf tank nodes so do same for damage ones...
In PvE i think it will make harder to complete end content.

Not to play devil's advocate but it is because of the super over-tuned healing that is happening because of hybridization. I agree that changing the tanks CP system is a stupid way to change it (FIX HEALING) but they feel that something has to happen now that everyone can self/cross heal out the wazoo now.

You need more tanks, but less tankiness. Surviving in PvE is easy it is a joke.

Yes this is dumb, it ruins niche builds. My mitigation magblade tank will probably not be viable after this patch and why? Because they want all tanks to be full metal dragonknights.

So much for "play how you want". It's a good slogan, but don't dare step outside the cookie cutter.

ZOS screwed tanks last year already. My tank had to re-distribute 2x as much of CP points then other roles after first CP 2.0 revision, when they wanted take power from players.

It led to me playing tank much less in ESO(tank was my main).

    PvP - Recruit.
    PvE - Dragon food
RPG - A guy who thought, that he can defeat daedric prince, yet guards still chase him off when he accidentally touches some object during daily writs.
