The card game gets ranked seasons and rewards but BGs and PvP don't?

How does it make sense that the new card game is going to get seasonal ranked splits and hefty rewards but not BGs or PvP in general? Shouldn't PvP or at least BGs have a ranking system like just about every other MMO with PvP? Players have been asking for ranked arenas/BGs for years to no avail but a new RNG-based card game gets it instead???

I agree. The last semblance of anything to "ranked" BGs was deathmatch and it was taken away. I just don't get these decisions.

If the new card game is a fair competition, then sure have a leaderboard for those that want that. That makes a lot more sense than an eso combat pvp scoreboard. Between imbalanced classes, lag differences, cheating add-ons, gamepad vs keyboard, skills that don't work and whatever else is there at the moment, it's pretty nuts to think of eso pvp as a legit competition.

It's FUN! It's worth playing. Go with it, but don't kid yourself on what's going on. It shouldn't be taken seriously and a competitive leaderboard is laughable. And yes, I can feel this way and still enjoy the gold jewelry from my ill-gotten, lag kill AP!

The fact that dueling is a player driven experience with zero incentives and BG’s don’t have a ranked queue is completely asinine. This shows a huge disconnect between the devs and the player base.

We’ve been asking for the Emperor leader board equivalent for Imperial City for years, too. But apparently ZOS prefers to keep it a ghost town when there’s no event going on.

But having a ranked card game shows you where their priorities are.

Leaderboards are a joke and shouldn't exist period IMO, but that's a whole other rant. And they shouldn't be adding hefty rewards to this card game just to get people to play. It's just them doubling down on a bad idea to bribe some into playing and punish others that hate the idea of a card game.

We already have campaigns in cyrodiil.

You don't want seasons in PvP, it's a trash concept from WoW and doesn't belong here.

There is good content and updates needed for pvp but seasons aren't it chief.

DM was not a semblance of ranked as it was not even full of people queueing for DM only. It drew from players that wanted a random BG, who was not interested in only DM.

I will be proud of my ranking of 0 for the card game for all times. Why was this even created in the first place?

The card game itself is not necessarily a bad addition to the game. It's just crazy to think it should be a priority or ranked in any way, or that it should be advertised as a main feature for new content release.

The card game creation is likely a bad omen for the future of ESO and most especially for those of us that play ESO for the combat rather than the RP or housing. The games focus is definitely heading in the wrong direction, and fast.

They dont need to invest in Servers that can actually run Cyro with more than 40 people when they can just put a ranked mode into the card game no one asked for as a main feature.

It is yet another slap in the face to people who want to PVP, maybe even those that want to play any part of the game as exists actually. I read the patch notes and thought it was an April fool's joke. I'm almost ready to get off the crazy train.

If you haven't given the card game a spin on the PTS you might want to give it a try.

I went in to it expecting a relaxing casual card game and it really didn't feel like it was that at all.

It is also easier for the card game to do ranked. All the card game needs to do is find one player that fits the criteria to play with you to start a match. The card game's gameplay mechanics are mostly separate from the rest of the game so you don't have the issue of other parts of the game messing up the card game balance wise.

Just here to add my +1, but I will say that maybe we should hold our horses.

This card game represents the first dynamic ranking system brought into the game. The current cyro/bg leader boards are additive only, showing the cumulative medal/ap score of players through a simple database sort - neither are close to an actual ranking systems. It is likely, however, that zos is bringing a dynamtic ranking system into the card game in order to develop, test and rollout a proper ranking system without messing with the established game code. To that end, its likely that this feature will be rolled out to other areas of the game in the future, after the new expansion and server rearchitecture that is going on.

Much easier to test on card pvp than real pvp, and if they did it live with real pvp, we'd probably all riot unless it was perfect. I'm grateful we're getting any kind of real ranking at all.

I still have hope for the game tho, so take that how you will xD

It makes sense in the way that having PVP leaderboards may actually expose class imbalance! XD

Technically there are Battlegrounds leaderboards.

And the Emperor leaderboard is the ranked ladder for Cyrodiil.

I just saw a video of tales of tribute and I must say that the artwork seems very basic (on the cards)...
Euhh was a bit surprised, I thought they'd go to town with the illustrations.

And to answer about PvP and BG...well it's pretty obvious we've been put no the back burner for a number of years now. Will it change, don't think so.
