Anyone else disappointed with the aesthetics of this new expansion so far?
Yes, it looks way too much alike to the look of Leyawiin. We are going back to base game were bretons and imperials are just slightly different colours of eachother.
Mediterranean? That which used to be a very imperial look, yet they don't get and instead get generic european medieval? Where are the knights and magic bretons are known for? Why is it all sailor/piratey? Where are they stormy and less Mediterranean look of the teaser?
I'm hoping it will be better than the glimpses but I'm not holding my breath, and I'm so annoyed over how Blackwood and Leyawiin got treated and then we get this.
I haven't seen "too" much of what is coming, the Breton/high isle things I've seen look great, but i agree for myself i don't like the coral/pirate/sea stuff and so i hope there is a good amount more medieval stuff we just haven't seen yet.
I used to play Guild Wars 1 back in the day, the Necromancer there was amazing... you could summon an army of undead minions and that big one that actually wielded an axe.
This one does seem quite a bit off.
Probably why they didn't go this route... 20 necromancers sitting on the Daggerfall fountain with " an army of undead minions and that big one that actually wielded an axe" and the servers might explode.
I'm a bit on the fence about it. I'm glad the Bretons are getting an updated look and more lore. But I can agree that its not the sort of setting that I was hoping for when it came to the Bretons medieval aesthetic. I do want something more gritty and unrefined but the choice for it to be a resort island squashes that. Its once again a very bright and shiny painted landscape to marvel at. And I am definitely over every new zone being picturesque.

It looks absolutely gorgeous, from the architecture to the environment. Those 'pirates' moments, I don't see it. Most of the gameplay footage was castles and knights! Which is good.
I am So Happy that they also incorporated the fey creatures that supposedly live in old forests throughout High Rock according to obscure lore, seeing the faun like creature was super cool. And the indrik as well! I always imagined there were a few in High Rock, since they fit that mysterious enchanted forest vibe.
I think I have not been so excited for any expansion in any MMO ever, the Arthurian combo of knights and mysterious forest stuff is the reason Bretons are my favourite race, and the vibe I got from the gameplay footage nailed it.
