No sound on incoming Whispers

A bunch of us noticed that since the last patch (Monday Dec 2, 2019) we get NO "ding" on incoming whispers. This is for folks both with addons and without. Was there some change in this patch that would effect this or was it removed? If so how can we get it back? Unless one sits and "stares" at their chat window they are bound to miss incoming /w's and I know I don't just stare at chat I'm busy doing other things.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Please disclose the platform and mega-server on which you encountered the problem when you post a bug report. ZOS cannot investigate without that information. (See Guidelines For Bug Report Forum for advice about reporting a bug.)

From your remark about add-ons, I suppose that all of you are playing on a PC/Mac. But ZOS also needs to know the mega-server. Thanks!

FWIW, I have noticed that there is no alert for an incoming Whisper while I am entering a message in the Chat window. This has been the case for a long time, but I don't know whether it is a bug. Also, the alert might be suppressed while I am entering a message because I use the add-on pChat. However, it has not occurred often enough to warrant the time and effort to investigate it.

Other than that, I understand your concern.

The add-on pChat has an option to enable players to specify the sound for incoming whispers. The default setting is None. Choosing the sound can become very time-consuming, because the player must know which of the numbers 1 - 612 identifies the sound that they want to hear. (143 or 179 are serviceable.) So far, I have not found any advice as to which sounds are the best. This is not a well-developed pChat feature.

We all play on PC/NA... We tried with and without addons and still same thing no sound on oncoming whispers. Multiple people, multiple guilds and from all over North America

The game does not make a sound on a whisper. If you were receiving sounds with your whispers its because you have an addon installed that does that, such as Pchat mentioned above. That addon most likely has not been updated by the author since the game was updated, or has been updated but is now off by default and needs to be turned back on, or you haven't updated the addon on your end.
edit: or you might need extra libraries to support the addon.

There's definitely no whisper sound for us console folks. Never has been.

sorry for the necro reply but didn't find anything recent

As of version 10.0.2.7 of PChat there's 723 sounds in the slider. 460 is the "NEW_NOTIFICATION" sound (used to be 360). Hope this helps someone.
