About the same as always - sat ping is what it is. I might be seeing a few seconds less these days, but that's subjective - I don't keep a stopwatch on it!
Since yesterday evening, most instanced zone load screens never finish. Today, overland zone load screens is just a few seconds(normal times) but again, any instanced zones especially dungeons or trials results in infinite load screens. I let it sit there for 15 mins just now and it did not load. Please RESUSCITATE!
Have you tried the trick of setting configuration in UserSettings.txt to use only 2 cores? That has got me back to pre-Update 33 load screen times. Not ideal because things were supposed to get better but at least not worse. Something is screwy with multi-threading because no way should 8 threads be slower than 2 threads.
For the longest time I used to get through load screens in seconds. Now post update I've had the longer than usual message for the first time on a while. Loading times got worse.
It's been pretty good for me the past few days but this morning has been absolutely terrible. It was taking me several minutes to switch between toons while doing writs and I can't even load in to any dungeons or trials without getting timed out on PC/NA.
SteamKitten01- GM of The Traveling Torchbug (PC/NA)
Much longer. Sometimes i time out of the game. -.-
It's to the point now where i just tab out to another window to read stuff or whatever, waiting for the dang thing to load.
Improved dramatically, but I just upgraded my internet to Fiber right after Update 33. So I'm an outlier most likely.
What was your internet connection like before? Because in my experience load times are usually constrained mainly by the type of drive the info is stored on and also slightly affected by CPU.
For example when I had a PS4 Pro with the factory HDD my load times for porting from one zone to another were 30-40 seconds. Played on a PS5 with the factory SSD on the same internet connection and averaged 5-7 seconds.
Playing on that same internet my PC with a Samsung 970 EVO SSD, and R5 3600X load times are typically 3-5 seconds.
The PS5 SSD is slightly faster than the PC SSD but the PC CPU runs at 4.1ghz vs 3.5ghz (both are AMD zen 2 architecture) so I attribute the slightly quicker load times to the CPU being able to parse the info being pulled from the SSD and the server side data pulled through the internet just a bit quicker.
As to how update 33 affected those load times: mostly the 3-5 seconds with an occasional slower load of maybe 11 seconds, which I'd put down to Zeni's servers having issues trackings and processing other players positions/loadouts/effects to then feed to my PC over the internet.
While there were recent issues with login and loading issues, these issues should now be resolved by the most recent maintenance. For this reason we will be closing the discussion. Further discussion can take place here.
