When is a White Lion (Mount) Daily Login Reward not white but a very underwhelming grey? Perhaps that colors my reaction to this rather unrewarding "reward"?

I was looking forward to this "white" cat.

I have assigned this grey lion to my Beggar Breton Templar who discards armour, she is the grey shining thingy in the breach taking the toll and dealing death.

White can be an umbrella term for any number of off-whites, which I believe includes greys to an extent. Though yeah, generally when something is called white you expect it to be closer to white than grey.

    I like him.

    I named him "Midnight"
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

I actually like his colours, reminds me of M'aiq who is also awesome lol.
The detailing is very well done too imo and for a free mount I couldn't be happier, already using him on my "Catplar"

The white they use is a Whitesmoke white, which is indeed still a white. If you want to look at it in the color hex, it is #F5F5F5. But there are many types of white that are not really your version of white. Ivory basically looks like it has a light yellow tone, snow has pink in it, and ghostwhite has a blue tint to it. What you want is just... white... #FFFFFF which imo is way too bright. Especially for a mount. I dont particularly like the white on the elk mount, but each to their own! But they are still considered in the white category. If you actually look at actual white lions, their coats are actually anywhere to the cream based Floralwhite , or Whitesmoke. If you see a picture of a white lion that is well... white white, it is most likely photoshopped to give it an amazing white coat. Very rarely will it actually be the brilliant white you are thinking of.

OK, the elephant (said advisedly) in the room here ...

    You can't ride a lion.

It will roll, it will rip, it will rend, game over.

    You can ride a horse.

    You can ride an elephant.

You can even ride a yak, a camel, a water buffalo.

Slightly more troublesome, but you can ride a llama, a bull, and even an ostrich. (Though an ostrich almost killed Johnny Cash.)

    NO to lions.

Senche tigers are related (somewhat) to khajiit. That doesn't mean they wouldn't rip you a new one for getting on their back. Maybe they keep them stoned on moon sugar.

You also can't ride ghost horses, horses on fire or lava dripping out, lighting shooting out of its body, or made of stars. But who cares? It's a fantasy game. Most of the mounts are not even lore friendly, they're literally there to ride to look cool. If you want to make things realistic or lore friendly, half the things in this game would be gone. Take this with a grain of salt and realize they're just there to look pretty and cool.

@RisenEclipse I understand that, and for example those glowy teleport llamas from Summerset are clearly fictional, like Crumple Horned Snorkacks, Sandworms, or the express line at the DMV. But someone riding a lion, a regular old lion — I guess you could say it breaks engagement. Like if you were talking to King Emeric and he made a joke about the NASDAQ.

Oh, forgot one, you can also ride a big turtle in real life — if you’re a big jerk. I mean, where are you going to go that you couldn’t WALK there faster?

Whose to say lions in ESO can't be tamed and the only similarity between our lions and theirs is appearance, but their nature is utterly different? Whose to say in the ESO world their lions can't be taken out of the wild, thrown some jerky, and suddenly it's fully tamed and will let you ride it around. I mean you can ride dire wolves too and sabercats. I don't remember hearing about how our ancestors rode sabercats during the ice age... again my point is that it is a fantasy world, even the most "realistic" of mounts will fall into the cool realm where realism does not exist. Most of ESOs mount have a touch of unrealistic and a dash of only for the cool factor. Some of them even just lore breaking and just there to look pretty. Look at the pets too. Most of the ones you can find in real life will not follow you around unconditionally forever and ever without hesitation in the real world. It's a game. The fact that it's a lion is not an excuse for why it should not be a mount, or you may as well pull most of the mounts and pets from this game.
