Two handed weapon mystery

So I am running with a 2 handed weapon .. and every so often in the middle of a battle my toon will hold the weapon up over her head with her hands on either end of the weapon .. but its not "blocking" as far as I can tell .. or at least when I block intentionally she holds the weapon in front of her, cocked to one side slightly .. not overhead ..

Anyone know why she might hold the weapon up over her head sometimes? thanks ...

What class is your character and what skills are on that bar? The animation for a sorc activating crit surge looks roughly like you describe, but it certainly could be something else.

It's the two handed ability rally, morph of momentum.
https://en.m.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Momentum#:~:text=Rally: This ability now gains,time to instantly heal you.

"Momentum increases your weapon damage and stamina recovery. The Forward Momentum morph reduces the cost and grants immunity to Crowd Control effects for the duration, while Rally restores your Health x amount per second when the effect ends." - quoted from UESP.

Essentially, you activate rally/FM to buff up.

That’s not an animation with “hands on either end of the weapon” — both hands are on the same end in that picture. OP mentioned using a 2H but not whether the skill was from the 2H line.

Templar’s Repentance has the weapon sideways with hands spread out, almost on either end. And since animations are reused across classes (e.g. Radiant Ward = DK wings), Repentance’s animation might also be the same as Crit Surge mentioned above?

They could also be using an ally's synergy that reuses a similar animation.

Yeah, you're right - 'hands on either end'.
No easy way of knowing whether it's a sorc, templar or other ability until OP clarifies.

I got stuck with my 2hander behind my head(Like I was going to heavy attack. I did not) while fighting a wb not too long ago. I could still use skills(No animation) but could not swap bars. Related?

What you describe sounds like a synergy activation. (Default keybind is X.) What are you pressing when this happens?

LOL I wish I knew .. its usually in the heat of a boss battle and all of a sudden I see her holding it with 2 hands over her head!

Sounds like you are describing Templar cleanse ability.

EDIT: synergy activation I mean

Yeah, it sounds like you're in the middle of a templar's Cleansing Ritual/Extended Ritual/Ritual of Retribution and you hit the synergy button for the Purify synergy, which cleanses you of some negative effects. The animation for that is exactly as you describe.

yep one of our running mates is a templar .. and he uses those cleansings a lot, thanks
