More Classes/More Weapons

So, we've got all these mechanical beasts, bosses, and mounts -- why nothing but archaic and largely impractical weapons? If you think about it, it's kind of absurd.

So give us mechanized weapons, with rapid fire and long-ranged capability. If I can ride around in a mechanical spider, I'd be a total fool for not mounting a weapon of comparable technology.

Why bother making Rifles when you can shoot lightning and fire out of your hands?

How true, but such things are short ranged and obviously not very lethal, certainly not on par with a Gatling gun and 2,000 meters useful range. And if ZOS can give us mechanical mounts (for a price) of unlimited durability (what amazing power supply!) they can give us comparable ballistic technologies (for a price, of course).

If ZOS is willing to break lore and immersion with outrageously flashy mounts, they can certainly have no problem updating the weapons we use.

How 'bout we get rid of the outrageously flashly mounts and stick to traditional medieval fantasy weaponry? :)

Alternatively, when we all agree that the current pallet of classes and weaponry is perfectly balanced to everyone's satisfaction, then talk about adding more classes and weaponry? ;)

But that's not immersive, if you're going to add guns its going to start primitive not high tech at the start. At best it would be a flintlock musket shooting a round ball inside a non-rifled barrel that is only accurate at hitting targets within 25 meters then wildly at anything beyond that, lethality drops off the longer the distance over 100 meters.

I'm mentioning this because it seems like this suggestion was just made as a response to flashy mounts: I don't personally like flashy mounts but I don't see how any of them aren't lore friendly. What's not friendly about them is seeing the amount of people, who use them, use them, since ''in reality'' they'd be 100x or more rarer than what's reflected in the game relative to the ''population,'' but since this is an MMO that's the price paid if people are allowed to be their own main characters.
I don't really know how to explain why, but I feel like guns are a lot less lore friendly in TES than a coral reef monster horse.

Can’t tell if it’s an April fools joke or a serious suggestion.

First point: we get mechanical mounts that are powered by some fantastic energy source that never runs down. Do you think a flintlock is a weapon of comparable technology?

Second point (and the one I was trying to make backhandedly): ZOS selling neon and mechanical mounts is completely outrageous in terms of lore and immersion. [snip]

There's quite a few Dwemer and Clockwork devices with "guns" like the Dwarven Arquebus. So that already exists.

Most people in Tamriel A) don't have access to Dwemer/CC tech, and B) would prefer swords & magic anyway.

Skyrim is a fairly bland location full of bland, non-magical people who live on turnips, cabbage, and mead, and yet they have Unicorn mounts.

More interesting areas having better mounts is perfectly reasonable.

Obviously the *number* of Vestiges running around with these things is ridiculous, but that's an MMO, not whatever passes for reality to an NPC.

When you really dig into it, Elder Scrolls lore can be twisted to allow for just about any contrivance one can imagine. That said, I prefer the non-mechanical mounts. I use a couple of the magical ones for characters it matches, but that's as flashy as I want it.

I would prefer a mount that turns my vampire into a pile of flying bats ... but that's just me :)

I want a spear. Seriously the extra range would help with crowd control
