How often do you use the 'death RECAP' feature?

I would use it more but the fundamental issue on console is you can only study it whilst dead after dying. And in the majority of cases you need to get up and be revived quickly. Some kind of recording tool to refer back to later would be great. You mostly know why but sometimes it happens very quickly. I think a bit more detail that could be studied later would make the system useful.

i know console doesnt have addons to log that kind of stuff, so you could do the old school method of screenshot it if you cant look at it for more than a few seconds lol

then just review it after you were done whatever activity you were doing

Yes. I usually have the past hour of video as default video capture so i can review footage. Helps massively in trial progression sessions etc. Especially if i am helping lead/teach. Just not the most cleanest way of doing it still.

    Never.
Never, I only PvE so if I die it is usually die to either stupidity, took a bio break around a respawn, or lag/fall damage.

Either way it is apparent why I died and I try to never do it again. So far I quite good avoiding it as none of my characters has died in months.

The death recaps in PVP are absolutely wild. If you think ZOS has a handle on combat in this game and what it thinks balance is, spend some time in Cyrodiil and look at the death recaps. It’s an eye opening experience to say the least.

I use it more often to see WHO killed me than WHAT.

Oops, did I say that out loud?

But I seldom use it at all, because I'm usually more interested in resurrecting myself so I can get back to whatever I was doing in the game.

It's great in trials when you are trying to see which mechanic you botched up. And the tool tips are hilarious. My last one was, "Not sure what the problem is. Trying opening the crown store."

Balance and fairness is for a sport - Cyrodiil is a war zone, battles are never fair or balanced - if it would be fair and balanced, it would be stupid to engage - think of Sun Tzu's advice in the art of war "never start a battle, you haven't won already" - meaning, if you aren't in the advantage and likely to succeed, don't fight. PvP in a war zone is not a fair and balanced sport.

Pretty much this. I usually know what killed me, but there are times when I get nuked and have absolutely no idea what happened. For the first time a few days ago I got killed by a vanilla guard after they used something called Power Something and did next to 25k damage in that one attack. I wasn't fighting back and had only been running for like 5 seconds so it wasn't the one-shot guards can do after a while (the damage from that is also in the millions iirc). I have NEVER seen that from a base game guard (I was in Dhalmora) in all the time since they implemented the Justice System, so when I got yeeted to the next era from full health I checked to see what the hell had happened.

I usually use it in PvP, and I have an add-on (extended death recap) that gives me a huge list of damage I took leading up to death instead of just he last few hits. (It also doesn't have any useless tips).

But it can be helpful either seeing where you went wrong, or seeing if (like when you just explode all the sudden) how much damage you actually took even if it didn't look like you did because of a little lag/delay. But it can be the most useful in PvP IMO just because of the variety of things that can lead to a death in addition to your own mistakes like lag and numbers.

Or even more rare, but still occasionally, in a trial or hard dungeon, seeing what might have killed me, especially if I'm tanking, to see whether or not it was a mistake on my part, or just a bad decision thinking I could take a hit that I should dodge (usually when something is brand new). But it's nice to make sure you did take one huge shot and not five different smaller things that could normally be

    • Gold/Purple Food for Sorc PvP and Meme Tanking:(PvP) Clockwork Citrus Filet (increases Max Health by 3326, Health Recovery by 406 [useful if stage 1 vampire], Max Magicka by 3080, and Magicka Recovery by 338 for 2 hours). Witchmother's Potent Brew (Increase Max Magicka by 2856, Max Health by 3094, and Magicka Recovery by 315 for 2 hours.
    • Trash Potions when feeling cheap: Regular CP150 Essence of Magicka pots that I obtain frequently from playing the game or Crown Tri-Restoration Potion obtained from dailies.
    • Crafted Potions: Essence of Spell Critical (Bugloss, Lady's Smock, and Water Hyacinth). Without magelight this is my primary means of obtaining Major Prophecy on my Sorc, which increases my Spell Critical Rating. This also heals and restores magicka. Essence of Immovability (Columbine, Corn Flower, and Wormwood). I use this in PvP, since this gives me stealth detection, knockback immunity, and restores magicka (better to use it when competent allies are nearby, since it might reveal that you are surrounded by multiple players in stealth and you will not have an emergency pot available after use). Essence of Invisibility with only 2 ingredients (Blue Entoloma, Namira's Rot, Nirnroot, or Spider Egg). I use this in PvE content that requires stealth and if I need more speed I'll use Rapid Maneuver before using the potion. Essence of Invisibility with 3 ingredients (Blessed Thistle, Blue Entoloma, and Namira's Rot). Very useful in PvP alongside the vampire Dark Stalker passive, since you'll be invisible, ignore movement speed penalty while in Crouch, and you'll have a 30% movement speed boost from Major Expedition (I always have this slotted when riding from point A to B in PvP land, since gankers are always lurking). My templar/arcanist will mostly use Essence of Health (Tri-Stat Potion) Ingredients: (Mountain Flower, Columbine, and Bugloss).

It's information, who doesn't use it?

Then again I know a lot of people don't, especially in PvP because you get told your cheating for killing them in 2 seconds, yet if they looked at recap they would see dots ticked for like 20 times etc
