Can we please move eye cosmetics to its own category?

I've recently purchased the Azure Eyes from the Seals of Endeavor store, since it looks nice on my Dunmer Magicka Necromancer, only to learn that they're listed as a Head Marking, which took away the face paint I was using.

And, the Oracle Eyes from the customization pack in the crown store are listed under FACIAL HAIR.

I think it would be best if eyes had their own section, or were at least a minor or major adornment, so you can still use facial hair with a blind eye, or the Azure Eyes with your desired ritualistic face paint.

Thank you for your time and for reading and commenting.

Anything that qualifies as make up should also not be under facial markings. When a character wants to wear makeup, they also cannot wear face tattoos at the same time. I wouldn't mind if eye effects AND makeup are under the same category. But that has been irritating me since I started playing the game.

Same for Bosmer Antlers please! I’d like to use my eyelashes and antlers but they override one another.

And see, I was just going to mention that this is the one that annoys me, when I put on one of the eye makeup/lashes/etc, and my character loses their lipstick. Or puts on one of the crown crate lipsticks, and loses their eyeshadow. Even if it's the eyeshadow or lipstick I picked during character creation, not from the Collection. :/

Some cosmetics seem like they're unorganized, and it's very disconcerting.

I'm sure you can have lipstick and eye makeup, because the lashes and eye shadow are classed as facial hair. However it's not possible to have lipstick and face tattoos because they are both classed as face markings.

Really, you should be able to do a combination of everything. I want to use the blind eye on my Nord, with a beard, because that's part of his story, and he has a scar on his face, but I can't, because blind eye is facial hair for some weird reason.

Cosmetics have been in a jumble since they added em and gave up a while ago on hoping there'd be any fix or common sense to any of it xD

But yeah, +1 to the separations would be nice to have effects/eye make up/lip make up/tats/facial hair each in a category... and probably one more category for the lips/eye make up combos available.

It depends on which eye effects/markings you're using. Some are facial hair, some are head markings, I think some are accessories.

My guess is because originally the only categories were head markings and accessories, you could only have 1 of each and there were very few eye effects they didn't worry too much which category they went into. Then when the accessory and marking packs were added to the crown store and new cosmetics were sold individually more combinations became possible (because the collectibles menu splits it into more groups than the character creator has, like minor and major accessories) and more eye effects were added but the people making them continued putting them in wherever, so now we've got a mess.

Personally I think we've gotten to a point where there's enough eye effects that it would justify their own category. It would solve the problem of weird conflicts with other cosmetics, and make them easier to find.

They're so jumbled, I'd just like to be able to use any 6 cosmetic of my choice from whatever category. I never use body markings so why can't I have glowy eyes as well as eye makeup and a lipstick? Would it really be gamebreaking to have earrings and a flower, or for characters who wear a hat to have a facial tattoo instead of earrings?

I complain about this all the time. I have a great mental image for a shaman type Bosmer with antlers, a beard, and oracle eyes...but he can't exist because these things are all facial hair. Maaaaaaybe you could argue that eyelashes are facial hair but I honestly think "makeup" and "head markings" should be separate, "eyes" like oracle, Spiderkith etc should be separate, and horns should have its own category. I know we don't have many horns, but still - they're not facial hair and in no way should they preclude me from having a beard far less eyelashes or glowing eyes. Give us a couple tusk options for orcs if you want to fill it out a bit more.

I feel pretty sure they haven't done it because of the impact on the game having to render a few more cosmetics at a time across hundreds of player models, but still...this is still a thing we've been asking for, and it would be nice if they could let us know the possibility of it or the reason why not.

I think it would be something they could throw in as a low priority task after the expansion, when patches are quite. It could get done, it's probably just not high on the list. I can't imagine it would cost millions of dollars and take a team of eleven people to organize cosmetics.

It's not necessarily the fact that these things are in the same Categories. They could split them up, but it wouldn't do any good unless they made additional layers on the models. That's the actual reason you can't layer most things; they all go into the same layer. So Bosmer Antlers are on the same layer as beards, for example.

They really do need to add more layers to the models. Facial Hair, Makeup [Eyes], Makeup [Lips], Eyes [Special], Eyes [Covering], Facial Marking [Scars], Facial Marking [Tattoos], Body Marking [Scars], Body Marking [Tattoos], things like that to break up the model so we can actually customize our characters more.

Yeap. It's the same with oracle eyes, since they're on facial hair. You can't have a big beard and one blind eye with a scar across your face at the same time.

    They've done it once before.

Originally (and until some time after the crown store was added to the game) markings and adornments could only be chosen in the characrer creator, which only lets you pick 1 head marking, 1 body marking and 1 adornment per character. So for example my khajiit couldn't have ear rings and ear tufts because both are adornments.

It's only after they started selling markings and adornments in the crown store (incluing the packs with the character creator ones) that they split them into more categories. Now my khajiit can have both because the ear rings are an adornment and the tufts are facial hair, she could have another adornment too as long as it's one from the 'major adornments' category.

I'm not saying it wouldn't take some time and effort for someone to add new layers and sort everything, but it is possible to add new ones.

(Also choosing an eye patch as an adornment used to give the character a blind eye as well, which persisted even in situations where the eye patch was hidden, like when wearing a helmet which hides adornments to prevent clipping but keeps the eyes visible. A few years ago they changed that so the eye under the patch looks normal and the blind eye, so they can edit and seperate existing cosmetics too.)

Oh yeah, it's definitely possible. But simply splitting the various things into separate categories in and of itself won't do anything, they'd need to add those additional layers. Hopefully one day they will, since it's annoying you can't mix certain things that shouldn't clash with each other.

I'd like to add, that once upon a time, they had a mascara that wasn't crazy obvious. It was just thick lashes. And I have not been able to get it for any new characters for a few years now. My original chars bought it in the crown store, I'm pretty sure, and it has not been back. I'd look for the exact name, but the servers are down.

Heya, would you mind sharing the name once the game is up?

I think it's literally called Subtle Dark Lashes.

According to UESP it's one of only 2 eye lash cosmetics that's been sold on the crown store which are in the facial hair category.

This is another reason I think the cosmetics need to be reorganised: they're a jumbled mess. In addition to actual facial hair and argonian facial horn the "Facial Hair" category currently contains blind eyes, orc temple studs, wood elf horns, and some (but not all) the eye shadow options. The other categories aren't quite as bad but they have issues too - like ear-nose chains and other piercings being split between minor and major adornments.
