ZOS-

I rarely make an effort to compliment your work but today’s patch warrants some acknowledgement from your user base. The third patch completed in 22 March appears to have resolved some of the load screen issues.

I can login. I can logout. I can use wayshrines. I can travel to player. I can use guild banks. I haven’t tried much else as I am doing master writs but this is encouraging to see.

Everyone has been rightfully concerned the past few days. Thank you for making effort to address some of the known issues.

Now about that combat bug.....

Edited because I forget today’s date.

    I second this post.
Credit where credit is due, kudos to the ESO team.
*knocks wood* The servers are MUCH better now.

Zoning is fast. Grouping works. Ungrouping works. Group finder works. Entering and exiting dungeons is fast. Combat is lag free. Guild panel is working right. Vendors/Traders are good. Travelling mounted at high speed is glitch free. Logging in and logging out are working good and quite fast. Bank/GB solid. Picking nodes are smooth. Animations/FPS are smooth. Ping meter rock stable at 75-80ms.

    NIGHT AND DAY DIFFERENCE!!!
You are all entitled to have a very tall pint!!!
Job well done. We thank you.

    P.S> Further testing:
I typed in my name and PW. Started my stopwatch and hit enter.
Got to character screen, selected tank, entered game.
Fully appeared in game world and opened group finder, and queued a random normal.
Ready check, done. (The DPS actually pushed ready!!! I liked to faint!!!)
Entered dungeon and materialized fully, whereby I stopped the stopwatch.

    Elapsed time: 42 seconds.
From login screen INTO a fully formed dungeon.

    VERY not shabby, devs.

So congrats for doing their job? Some people think they should be given special praise for managing to do what one should be able to expect, from a billion dollar company. [snip] Where is the outrage. [snip]

There's plenty of outrage in every single other topic regarding performance. It's OKAY if someone wants to be thankful that things are stable.

There's been plenty of well deserved outrage. What happened last week (to say nothing of yesterday) should not have happened. However, it's always good to thank people. Even if it is their job. Like thanking a pizza deliverer, or a checkout clerk. They're just doing their job, but you can still thank them.

Small kindnesses can go a very long way not only to making the world a better, happier place, but also for making people want to do their job and put up with whatever crap their job entails.

Yes, "congrats for doing your job"...and also thank you.

It is not desperation to treat people with the respect with which you want to be treated. I am quite certain they did their best to fix a tough situation. It is really easy to be on the outside looking in and find all the things you think you would have done better; it is another to do it.

I am sure the folks doing the work came in every day wanting to find and fix the problems. I am also sure they feel as much relief and in need of a pint as anyone else would after a tough day at the office doing a thankless job.

You might disagree with the company; but that doesn't mean you should treat the people who work for them with anything less than the respect that you wanted to be treated with.

Well yes - congrats for getting right what went wrong. They FUBAR’d it and then fixed it. Not like this is a billion dollar financial system where a mistake can ruin a persons life savings. It’s a game and it’s priority and the associated expectation of service response should echo that domain.

But no doubt it was frustrating to many. I’m not losing sleep because I couldn’t port to Cyrodiil.

The combat bug tho - we need to talk.

I have yet to try this evening but if it indeed is fixed. For me it has been almost 7 days that I could not play the game as intended as well as a lot of other players. I mean kudos I guess, but on the other hand it is kind of about time. The first 3 or 4 days it was swept aside like we were all making stuff up or botched our routers. Forgive the lack of excitement.

I choose to be happy that they fixed it. And I choose to say Thank you.

That is not an act of desperation. It's an act of decency, kindness, and trying to be positive.

Siting in the forums and stewing over dissatisfaction with the game is about as mentally unhealthy as it gets. Nobody benefits from that. But if that is someone's cup of tea, so be it.

I don't know why they had the problems they had with the update. I'm not gonna blame anyone because I do not have enough information about what happened. But it got fixed. And I am glad for that. I'm glad that they kept working on it and resolved it as quickly as they could.

1> We are congratulating the devs for working extra hard under insanely stressful pressure, not the company. There is a difference between people and corporations. You conflating the two says quite a lot.
2> You believing that praise is a mark of desperation says quite a lot.
3> You believing that people that go above and beyond their regular duties don't deserve recognition for that says quite a lot.
4> Once a problem that required outrage is solved the next step is change towards a better future, not continued outrage. You believing that outrage is still warranted after a problem has been solved says quite a lot.

I'm sure glad I don't work retail anymore so I don't have to deal with people that hold your beliefs.

I also think it's kinda important to say "this seems to have improved the situation" just so that they're aware that the latest line of investigation and response appears to be a fruitful one.

To ONLY complain and be outraged does not actually serve the outcome we're seeking. Devs need feedback for when things appear to be going right as well as wrong so they can, if they choose to or are able to listen, plan future actions accordingly. They also need to know when an issue is resolved and no longer in need of their attention so that they can move onto the many issues that might still be in need of resolving; basically problems we still want solved are not addressed if we insist on refusing to ever acknowledge improvement, and thus deprive developers of the indication that further investigation into an already solved problem is likely a poor use of their time.

For what it's worth, the changes that were made during today's maintenance, whatever they were, do seem to have resulted in a noticeable improvement to performance.

Today's maintenance has resolved all my issues. It's not always easy to reproduce an issue or to resolve it carefully without breaking something else and when that does happen it can be very demoralizing. As someone that works on a development support team, I can understand the pressure you were under and I appreciate all your hard work and efforts!

    Thank you!

    75-80 ms ping.
I got like 3x that at 250-280 ping.

Yep, better here as well. Good job, devs, and don't listen to the people who apparently think continuing to be mad over stuff once it's fixed is the right way to go about things.
