Seriously wondering what qualifies to revert back to pre update 33 so it can be implemented correctly with the feedback actually being taken into consideration.
This whole experience"trying" to play a game to relax is a bad joke at best. From the unimaginable game breaking for so many with lost character progression, to the literally unplayable game state... Oooph
I have of course cancelled ESO+ for myself and my wife, with absolutely no plan to ever drop another dollar into such a drastic change of product that I bought and subscribed to. Such a shame to move from the Elder Scrolls gameplay for whatever reason they decided on. As a MS investor, it bothers me that this ignoring and pushing through without any care to customers has even transpired. It took all the fun out of the game, and any bit of care or respect I had for the company.
Apologize, reset to pre update 33, give a nice apology gift of crowns (that cost you 0) and fix the update without giving the flying bird to such a great number of your player base by implementing AWA in a way that is enjoyable for all.
You have been deaf to all the feedback, and still asking for MORE?? Come on...look at the state of the game. Is this not CATASTROPHIC enough?? It is for gameplay from my house

I think for the game to improve and to grow in player population that changes need to happen. These changes come with bumps and hiccups sadly. I am sure that when High Isle is completely released that we can look back and be glad for the changes ZOS implemented to the game.

They’ve never rolled back an update, they aren’t going to do so with this one. They wouldn’t even be able to if they wanted, with restoring from backup and wiping out all character progression since the patch, which would be unacceptable to a huge number of people.

It also seems that the majority of the player base is in favor if AWA. I’m sorry you aren’t happy with it, but it’s here to stay.

I do not think ZOS will roll anything back. What about the people whose cores cleared new achievements in the past week?

A rollback is never going to be initiated in this game. Certainly not after a week. I could see them rolling back the unplayable few hours after today's maintenance but not more than that.

As frustrating as these issues going on are, I don't think they're anywhere near catastrophic. That would be along the lines of no one being able to log in AT ALL on either PC server for the last week. They won't roll back thousands of players' progression after a week for issues like these. Not that they don't need to figure it out, since I don't have much faith in this emergency maintenance, but it's not severe enough to warrant undoing everything people have done and gotten over the last week.

I actually find the changes encourage me to "alt". I hated being locked into a single main due to not having account achievements. Now I can alt without worrying about achievements.

I also suspect that the current issues are not entirely AWA; though I doubt it helped much. Every major project I have ever worked on that does something foundationally changing has always received the blame when things have gone wrong. Sure, some issues were because of the project; but, most weren't. In some cases; things were only exposed because of the work performed vs actually being caused by it. I wouldn't be surprised if the same were true here.

After all the PTS threads / posts about AWA, and ZOS ignoring them and rolling out this bugged patch.
A rollback may possibility be the final nail in the proverbial coffin for some players.
It may show to some that ZOS is incapable of actually fixing the issues, and is conceding to failure.

I can only assume that "Edited to clarify that we are addressing an issue from today's maintenance. However, we will continue to follow up on other issues players have been experiencing" from @ZOS_Kevin means that the issues people have been experiencing from patch 33 are not being addressed with this emergency maintenance, that actually the overnight maintenance broke something else. The statement that they will "follow up" indicates that they will not be fixing the other stuff today. Although we will see, and good luck to them.

As catastrophic as I feel the changes to character achievements are, and as outspoken as I have been about wanting ZOS to rectify the issue, I do not think that a rollback would be a solution.

I have experienced rollbacks in games due to various reasons (including one very notable incident in an older MMO where two people managed to hack all four servers over the winter holiday vacation where the dev's were not in the office) A week rollback can be catastrophic in and of itself, and equally as destructive to the player experience as AWA has been.

There is so many things this would effect that you have to think about when requesting something like a rollback of the servers.

-People who have just started brand new characters on their accounts would have those characters, and their account progress for them, deleted.

-Brand new players to the game would have their characters and progress in the game completely wiped for reasons they do not understand because they are not as invested in the game as a long time player. They would likely leave the game for good and never look back because of this.

-Gold earned, mats gathered, levels acquired during the event would be reset, and player time spent gathering these things would be lost, fostering further anger in a community that has already been deeply divided by the AWA fiasco.

    - Important achievements people have earned would be reset and they would be forced to earn them again.

-Players who love housing and spend time artfully decorating their creations would have those creations reset and destroyed. One might think its easy enough to just "do it again" but for complex creations and spur of the moment decisions, you don't always remember.

-Crown store purchases, player crowns for gold trades from safe discord communities like Tamriel Crown Exchange, and other things would all be reverted, creating a confusing mess.

    And more...

Believe me. I am as angry as you are, I dislike the changes and the way this was handled. But I do not want to see more people hurt, more people loosing out, due to a rollback. For some people taking solace in in game activities they enjoy like housing, loosing more might be all their heart can take.

Unless it is possible for AWA to be reverted in a way that safely preserves the efforts of people over the past week, then the server should not be touched until ZOS finds a way to return a sense of individual character progression to the game. A new form of implementation that caters to more than one play style should DEFINITELY be considered. But a rollback? No. There are things a bribe of crowns just cant compensate you for sometimes.

The servers are too busy deleting our hard earned per-character data. Apparently its happening as we login, because you have to log onto chars to have their achievements merged. I'd give it a couple of weeks tops - most data will be deleted by then, and the game will be fine. If you consider Tamriel Once being fine.

I cancelled ESO+ back in October (right after a 3 month renewal) and haven't logged in since over the same issues. It was literally one broken/bugged thing after another. The breaking point was an update rolled out that completely screwed and broke a lot of stealth based characters. And from reading the bug reports forum, it looks like they've hardly fixed anything because people are still reporting the same exact ones. This isn't anything new. It's pretty SOP for ZOS at this point. As cool as it would be for them to actually do something nice for the community like gifting crowns or a free month of ESO+, I don't see it ever happening.

I adore this game. I unsubbed due to the AWA impacts of U33 - not because I don't like the combined player achievements, but because it's screwed up how you gain experience, it's scrambled some quest dialog, and it enmeshes your characters with each other in a way that doesn't make a lot of sense. I found it upsetting that the concerns of folks who experienced AWA on the PTS didn't seem to be heard, and things broke when it went live that could have been avoided had ZOS just truly listened.

But, I've also been in the game since patch and, outside of some long loading times, I found it to be running smoother overall, with higher fps than I had been getting, and a quest I had dreaded testing with two alts actually behaved as it should have.

This game is beautiful, engaging, and fun. I can't help but marvel at what the team have been able to do.

I really hope the patch addresses the bulk of the issues people have been having with performance. I hope the lag, long zoning times, dungeon finder, IC/Cyro access, fps spikes, (and perhaps some missing moments for subsequent playthroughs!) can be fixed, so everyone can enjoy the game again. I'll resub when that happens, as I think the game is worth it.

      (1) Make all Delves, World Bosses, Dolmens / Harrowstorms / Geysers progress character-specific again, by decoupling "completion" in the Zone Guide from "has the achievements". This can be done with Skyshards, so it can be done with other things.

      (2) Anything that is currently "undiscovered" must be "incomplete" for that character, so, when a character logs in, if it has any Delves, World Bosses, Dolmens/Harrowstorms/Geysers "undiscovered", mark them as "incomplete" and remove the tick from the Zone Guide. Restore that tick only when the thing is PROPERLY DISCOVERED AND COMPLETED BY THAT CHARACTER.

      (3) If the AWA update just happened to change some "already discovered but not completed" features to "completed", then too bad, there's probably no way to try and revert that without causing damage elsewhere, but at least we KNOW that undiscovered features have to be non-completed.

      (4) Make ALL dialogue go off QUEST FLAGS, not Achievements. If you don't have the actual quest flag for having *personally* defeated Molag Bal on this character, nobody calls you the person that ended the Planemeld. If you don't have the quest flag for having *personally* ended the Llodos Plague, nobody notes that you've done it - even though the Achievements say you've done it on another character.
