i'm a returning player, since jan, before the patch droped i would have said yes absolutley - now i'd wait till they clean up at least some of the mess they have created with the patch
you could be lucky and not have any probs but there are defiently some bugs that might make you wish you never downloaded 120gig of data
dont know if that helps or not just my opinion

PvE soloist with ~2kCP and 6 years in ESO - so your interests/mileage may vary.

I'm very pleased with ESO. Performance is fine for my more demanding tasks (soloing some group dungeons and soloing quite a few WBs). The game remains beautiful. I'm pleased with many of the more recent features (Outfits, sticker book, companions, account-wide achievements).

Jump back in and see for yourself is the best course of action. While there are bugs from the last patch and the servers have been hit pretty hard by outside influences lately it's still fun IMO. I just returned from an extended break in December and have been rather happy.

Honestly, the best thing to do is log into the game to see for yourself.

If you are a heavy user of add-ons, especially ones that use achievements to decide what to show on your map and how (i.e., the status of the icon), then until the add-on authors update their add-ons to compensate for AWA you might be likely to think that the game is "totally broken" and "100% unplayable."

If you don't use any add-ons, your experience might be totally different, as mine has been.

As others have said, the group finder is totally broken and even grouping up seems a bit wonky with invites failing quite a lot. I don't doubt that this will get fixed eventually though.

As for PvP if you are looking for performance there - just move on.

time is the one thing we own, gotta value it, i use cyrodiil as distraction...at times yes, poor game performance itself can become a distraction to my distraction...

Performance is at an all time low right now. The issues experienced in PVP for years has bled full on into PVE now, and the latest DLC has been a hot mess. They posted after the patch they know about the issues, but nothing has been said since and there has been no patches to address it. Daytime low pop play seems ok, forget about prime time.

Weirdly, I had better performance in PVP today than PVE.

At the very least, log in on each of your characters to let the new AwA achievement system do its thing. There are pros and cons to it, but checking the new system out is a reason to log in at the very least.

Performance is no better than one year ago, possibly worse... and if youre planning to create a new main and questing, roleplay or just have a fresh start, surprise! With new AWA in update 33 "Tamriel Once" you cannot do it anymore! Your alt could be hailed as the savior of Tamriel from the first moment he/she sets foot on it.

    No.

I cannot in good conscience recommend this game to anyone right now. Performance is terrible, bugs all over the place, and account-wide achievements have been implemented in a way that you can no longer complete delves and dolmens twice - once you've done them on your first char they become equivalent to the points of interest on the map and nothing more. If I wasn't so heavily affected by sunk cost fallacy in regards to ESO, I'd quit myself.

I'd generally agree with the sentiment here, I've been playing for 5 years and the performance at the moment is very poor, almost feels like ZoS with the latest patch have created their own denial of service issue and then compounded it by starting a surprise event right after.

When the game is working well, it's a great game, but it seems they break it more than fix it.

    and yes, and no.
Yes, because TES has a good lore and story, and so on, and so on.
No, because of grid bugs and break-all updates.

Performance is bad especially in Cyrodiil, and since the deployment of the AwA system the servers have been extra unstable, but presumable they will fix these issues in upcoming patch maintenances. Overland PvP is a dark convergence mini game, sprinkled with plaguebreak intervals. Group finder is the same, but the last few days there's been problems because of the new update. If you've played after the new CP system, there's not many changes besides any sets you may want to farm.

The best advice on here is see for yourself. There is sooooo much to do in this game, experiences can be very different depending on your activity. Cyrodiil, under 50, has a few performance issues, but hardly gamebreaking. The vet campaigns... well... that's another story. General overland is fine, as are most dungeons... but in the dlc dungeons and trials, where a lot more stuff is flying around... that is worse. AWA messed with some addons, but at least skyshards addon seemed to be fixed.

I would like to play again but it seems that the game has come to a standstill.

At the same time that i download this mega update I read the forum and already from the reading i see players not very enthusiastic about this AwA and the reason is that this wide achiev account is not really an AwA but something half done that probably wasn't necessary.

Regarding the game, always reading in the forum, there are problems of lag, loading and the inability to use the old addons (perhaps even the new ones), with particular attention to the map addon.

Personally I stopped playing ESO because in terms of pve you must necessarily have a constant group, so be present for a few hours a day in the guild, otherwise you will not be considered for veteran content (sorry we already did them all, I can't take it anymore) such as trials or dungeons dlc, and currently I cannot be always present in the game ... logging in to queue for 1-2 hours is not so much fun (I mean for dungeons dlc in veteran-> which are my fun along with some veteran run trials).

In conclusion, i advise ZOS to change the system for entry into the dungeons, something that attracts veteran players and also now we need new levels (too many sets, too many dlc that are finished in 1 month).

I still recommend the game to new players, there are so many things to do, boredom has taken all players like me who have been playing for more than 3 years (but it's not just our fault).

Not that Agrees are everything but, to the OP.... the fact this comment I quoted has the overwhelming majority of Agrees should tell you all you need to know.

ESO has seen far better days.

As of 2022, they have released a very controversial and bug-ridden version of account-wide achievements and are due for the least-hyped chapter (aka expansion) in this game’s history.

Things can certainly improve in the future but this is currently a “low point” for ESO.

Other than the terrible performance, the game would be awesome to a brand new player. They get one opportunity to play it through fresh. But once they start making and playing new characters, they will be disappointed.

The other downside for new players is that ZOS is still charging full price for content you can only play through properly one time. You would think they would lower the prices to match the value, but I'm confident that won't be happening.
