Do people really like to say STAMcro/MAGcro? What happened to the old RPG NecroWar/NecroMage?

Returning player here. Just curious what drove people to use such abominations of words used in the title. Wouldn't it be much better to use the good old terms of NecroWarrior or NecroMage? Or at least NecroStam or NecroMag? STAMcro especially just seems so absurd.

Do you like these labels ingame?

Do you have your own way of labeling Magická/Stamina Necromancers?

I need something to work with cause I can feel my brain literally dying everytime I read MAGcro/STAMcro 😂

I've never heard the previous terms in eso ever. Most classes are just shortened with mag or stam first, and then the ending of their respective class.

Magplar, stamden, magblade, etc.

I have genuinely never heard those "good old terms" in ESO or in any other context. Where are they from if you don't mind me asking?

And no, those just don't roll off the tongue right for me. The community-accepted formula of Mag/Stam/Tank/Heal + suffix for each class (Sorc, Blade, DK, Plar, Den, Cro) sounds way better to me.

These terms are all irrelevant now we have hybrid stats. It's just a Necromancer that uses a blend of different skills.

I was partial to magromancer and stamromancer, which got thrown around a bit when necro was first introduced, but never really caught on. Probably because they're pretty long winded as abreviations go.

This is not your old RPG. ESO (like all games) has it's own terminology. In this game 'necro warrior' could be ambiguous because 'warrior' doesn't have any specific meaning. Whereas stamina necromancer has a specific and clear meaning and it gets shortened because it's the internet and everything gets shortened if possible.

And honestly, they're just as awkward as Stamcro/Magcro. But those two fit the general ESO pattern of Stam<class>/Mag<class>, so they're fine. /shrug

I have played since console midnight launch and have never heard anyone use Necro Warrior or Necro Mage at any capacity.

Hopefully you don’t say “drew wax” or “sidekick (Psijic). 😊

I have been gaming in MMO's since 1999 and I am not familiar with those terms. I even played DnD and we never used them.

Of all the abbreviated class names in ESO....oddly.....StamCro and MagCro are the ones I actually like. To be clear, it is not that I dislike the other ones...I just like the necro ones. I don't "hear" Magcro...I hear MagCrow and that feels fitting for a Necro to me.

I've never heard your version used before in eso too. There's a reason people use Stam or mag followed by class in this game. That better indicates your build in eso. I mean stamcro is a lot faster to say and type then necrowarrior. The community is pretty comfortable using the terms so I guess you'll just have deal with it when seeing people use them XD

Magxxx and stamxxx seems to be the standard means to describe a build in ESO which makes sense because they are either stam based or magicka based. Both often cast spells.

Don't like for necro specifically, as to me it associates more with crocodiles rather than necromancer.

But it is still better than your suggestion, since Warrior and Mage are Celestials.

I've lost countless hours of sleep thinking about this very issue. Personally I think accounts should be banned if caught using these shortened versions.

More awkward actually. Magcro and Stamcro is simplistic, rolls off the tongue and conveys the two type of resource builds you can have in the game. Its the best fit and the community has accepted it. It seems no one here even knows where the terms the OP uses even come from. And if they were ever used I can see why people stopped using them. Way to many syllables imo.

I'm in my mid-50s and I've been gaming since roughly 1975.
I've never heard the terms 'NecroWarrior' nor 'NecroMage.'

And yeah, I use Stamcro and Magcro to refer to my necro characters in this game.

Scaling still takes into account your highest resource pool and ignores the other so you're still mag or stam focused.

The only game I can think of where a character might be described as a necrowarrior is Guild Wars 1 which had dual-class builds and classes called necromancer and warrior, although I don't think that was a very common combination. Many other games have dual-classes of course, but I haven't encountered any which also have necromancer and warrior as classes.

Necromage I've never heard at all and in the vast majority of RPGs I know of it would be redundant because in one form or another necromancers are a sub-set of mages (technically the same is true in ESO as well, but mage isn't used in game mechanics, only in lore).

This brings back memories of people trying desperately to coin the abbreviation when necro was about to drop. "MagNec" or "StamNec", "Magcer" or "Stamcer", "Magromancer" or "Staminancer".

Good times.

Necromage was a restoration passive in Skyrim, though.

The Stam and Mag division is unique to ESO so I'm not sure from what game you get the necrowarrior necromage terminology since any other game with necros I can think of only has one type of necro.

I like those terms a lot better

Stam-whatever Mag-whatever may as well go away, but it’ll stick until magicka and stamina are removed from the game. The term matters to people who want to max out their damage, but they all look like warriors now

This, same with magsorc and stamplar.
Main point is that some classes bring utility and can double task, I heal pretty well on my magplar in dungeon DD mode, going dungeon healer for last boss HM.
In trials and organized cyrodil groups you want an group setup to do all the buffs and debuffs while doing their role.
