Where is my reticle?
Where is the torchbug?
Who is my companion?

Hey ZOS, I can understand interaction priorities when there are multiple items all very close together - but this has been really irritating for a while now. Try to use a wayshrine... grab a butterfly instead; Try to loot a corpse... grab the nearest torchbug instead; try to use a fishing hole... turn around and run 5m to dig up some ore.

Can you please check the direction and or distance when these decisions are being made? pretty please?

Thanks.

The problem isn't the torchbug and the rapport. The problem is that I'm trying to loot the corpse under my reticle and I can't loot it because the priority system currently in place thinks I want to loot the torchbug that is 5m away instead. And I'm purposely placing the camera above the corpse so that it's not a line-of-sight issue, and I still can't loot the corpse.

Sometimes going into first person view can help when items are really close together. But I do feel that the loot pick up should be a bit more accurate... so many bounties from accidentally stealing things beside vendors...

If you hit a target with a knockback before it dies (or the companion does), that can desync the body so where it shows on your screen may not be where the corpse is actually located. I'd grab the torchbug because its only 1 rapport loss, the dolmen daily gives her back 125, and you can keep picking new torchbugs during the 5 minute immunity time.

I agree with the OP. I’m not that concerned with rapport, but I experience this quite a bit when looting adds. Even when trying to jump or harvest nodes at times, there Mirri is holding my hand making sure I’m sure I’m ready to take the leap. That said, I too have found sending her home, looting the dead, jumping, or whatever else I’m trying to do, when out of combat, proves to be the best option.

I’ve already wasted plenty of time repositioning myself and the camera to no avail. What’s another second or two to quick pick and click? Having her around is fun for light adventuring, but it seems to make interacting with the world a bit more cumbersome.

I found it! you can send my prize of 1 year ESO+ to Chips_Ahoy

Yeh, the target system is not very good in the game, I have always been curious how many rats I have killed until today.

On a closely-related issue, they need to get the Companions off our backs (like. physically.)
They supposedly adjusted it shortly after they launched, for this same issue, but they STILL stand too close, EVERYWHERE, and interfere constantly with access to other things, much like combat pets do, except worse than the combat pets.

I was questing in Northern Elsweyr the other day; the 'Defend Riverhold' quest.
I was unable to activate the siege engine because Mirri kept getting in the way; the prompt for activating the engine getting replaced with the ever-present "Talk to Mirri."

    Frustration over 9000.

I did. And then I made another "floating meatball" :)

I never intentionally pick up bugs. Not worth my time. The number of times Miri has yelled at me for picking up a bug on accident is more than I can count.

I also love that if I mindlessly slaughter goblins, who might actually have feelings and emotions, Miri throws a party. You accidently swat a fly, and boom, she hates you.

I 100% would not use companions if I didn't have the NoInteract addon. I blacklist companions, quest npcs following me around and getting in the way, torchbugs, butterflys, chairs, and the crafting area npcs. It's easy to unblacklist with one click, then when done interacting, reblacklist. It baffles me that the companions and quest npcs follow so closely. Obviously it's annoying and even IMO, gamebreaking. Sometimes the devs baffle me, like the twilight matriachs. There is zero good reason to have such annoying pets.

I could deal with the priority system.
What I absolutely wish they'd change is to completely block off any type of interactions while sprinting.
There's a check for it already, if you try to chug a potion or summon your horse while sprinting, you won't be able to.
So could we please, for the love of the divines impede us from interacting with ANYTHING while we're sprinting?

There have been countless times when I'm sprinting on my horse at full speed getting ready to jump over the river because I don't want to dismount just to swim for half a meter only to have to dismount and start sprinting again, ONLY to find out that I'm about to jump over a fishing hole, so my character doesn't even make the jump and just immediately dismounts to fish (AND FAIL TO DO SO because I don't have any bait selected).
It's not just the fishing holes, it's the torch bugs as well, especially torch bugs when you're about to jump over a ledge but your character decides to dismount and then WALK BACK to pick up the torchbug.

Couldn't we just get a notification on the top-right corner of the screen that says "you can't interact while sprinting"? It would be a blessing.
