More ways to get furnishing materials

I think we can all agree that furnishing materials make decorating a house a very costly endeavor. Wouldn't it be neat if we could more reliably get them? Idk about how long it takes you, but on a set farming path in the dead of night when no one else is farming it it can take me 9-12 hours to get a stack of heartwood or mundanes. It's so bad I just think it would be useful to also get them from deconing materials in large quantities, or to even have a set conversion of materials to their respective furnishing item types. ex. every 5 rubidite gives you a regulus.

Also I think it's time we talked about material cost of furnishings in general. Nothing imo should cost more than like 8 of a particular item. Especially if that item you're producing is tiny

Yeah, the RNG/grind for mats is one of the many reasons I barely touch housing anymore in this game. The amount of mats required for recipes is ridiculous and makes no sense sometimes. I mean, a piece of silverware shouldn't require the same amount of mats as a table.

I get they want to push us to buy furniture from the store, but they just priced that stuff too high, so I'm not doing that either.

I almost went on a rant about all the other combined reasons along with the above that has pushed me away from housing in this game, but I don't want to derail the thread you created about this one issue.

This is a huge problem, some mats are just too rare, and unlike gear crafting mats their availability is more limited. Adding them to Surveys, Hirelings, and Deconstruction would be a good start. Being able to turn in processed mats to a vendor in trade might also be nice.

    I could not agree more.

They really need to increase the drop rate AND reduce the amount of mats needed to craft Furnishings.

And what's with the style mats that you only get one of for each daily quest? I know you can sometimes get these from deconstructing certain pieces but it's pretty rare.

When I log on to play, I want to play, not spend hours farming to make one or two furnishings.

Also, we should be able to deconstruct furnishings with a chance to get back some of these mats.

I agree with all the above but of all of them I think we should at least be able to Decon existing furniture items just like Armour, Weapons and Jewellery, the system is already in place so it surely couldn't be too difficult to add.

I have a question though. What are good ways of getting the blueprints needed. My one character does all the special crafting but I'm missing a ton of prints I would like to get like the Nord and Breton ones.
As a side note, I don't mind farming for them. Gold is a rare commodity for me. I'm lucky if I have over 500k.

Find a spot with a lot of containers and check them compulsively. Vvardenfell has a couple of tombs full of urns to search, and at least one will make the mobs non-hostile once you complete the associated quest. There’s also a CP star you can slot that gives a slight boost to the number of furnishing recipes you can find.

Thanks, I'll look that over. Not sure how I missed that CP.

I don't do a lot of dailies, but I know in Leyawiin you sometimes get blueprints as rewards for completing them, plus getting the crafting mat needed for that style. I believe it works that way for other zones as well.

Check guild traders, too. A lot of green and even some blue and purple blueprints go for reasonable prices.

I jumped around a few different guild traders last night got lucky on a few but ones I was searching for were out of my price range which was the blue and purple ones. I'll check a few more when I log on later.

It's been brought up before, i like the idea of being able to Decon old furnishings for some (or all) of the mats.

Many times I've made things that end up not looking right, or fitting right, or i replace them with an upgrade later and i have to either ditch or store old furnishings. Being able to break them down for something could help with material availability AND for those asking for some sort of furniture storage bag.

I think it needs to go much further than that. I am worried that that's all we'll get which is of no help at all to most people decorating.

I gotta be honest, and I mean no disrespect to you or anyone who wants this. I think it' a good idea too. But I would honestly feel just getting that in place of getting a ton of more resources in total as an insult by ZoS.

I would find it highly useful whether or not it came with other goodies as well. It could be a stepping stone to add more features later, too.

I guess I have lower expectations on what we might actually get than you. That way I don’t get disappointed as often.

I would also really like to be able to find materials like heartwood and runes in treasure chests and surveys. That would also make it more attractive for me to look for these things, at the moment I don't feel like doing the surveys at all and mostly destroy them.

It's a sad state of affairs.
