It would be nice if you can hang out with your buddy without any pugs to interfere with your experience.

Any thoughts on this?

I played other games where they had solo, duos, four man and raids/trials. I personally find how ESO has the the Q much better, dungeons only. Trials you form group and your other content is open world. It is from experience a better gaming experience.

Since they allow 4 players to group up then all go into random dungeon finder and get the rewards, it makes no sense that 2 players with 2 companions can't do the same thing. But you can do it with pledges and arenas already just by traveling there so not an issue there. I do some pledges and arenas, solo with companion too.

In fact, when I first heard about companions I thought it was going to be a way to reduce speedrunners in DF, if they would allow a player and companion to just do a random normal without adding any other players. They should just add a check box to DF that says 'don't add', so if you check it you just go directly to dungeon with whatever group you have now + companions. If you don't check the box it just adds you to the regular queue.

I think it would be nice if we could get more variety in the content, outside of simply 4-person or 12-person. We have solo arenas. I know a lot of people who would enjoy something like a duo Maelstrom Arena or a 6-person mini trial.

In terms of adapting current content so that you can queue duo, I think it would be interesting but also negatively fragment the dungeon finder, much like removing DLC from the random queue making it almost impossible for anyone who wants to do DLC on normal to do so without getting a group together themselves.

You can simply walk in through the door of any 4 man dungeon (or indeed 12 man trial) whenever you want. The only thing gated behind the dungeon finder is the random normal/vet dungeon. The trial ones are quite handy in some cases as you can read all the books in the early areas, loot various things like the sunspire wardrobes/cupboards (no treasure chests or any set gear) and pickpocket people.

A few dungeons have 2 or more player mechanics, some just as part of the way it works others like Direfrost just gratuitous annoyance.

So take a friend and two companions and stroll in the door.

    There's hope!

Maelstrom Arena was originally conceived as a duo arena back when it was being done as early as 2015. They found they were limited technically, so they had to can it. I think from what I've heard they would really like to do them still, its just a matter of when they are able to.

As to dungeons, like others say, you can just jump in with a buddy, just don't use the queue. I agree it would be nice to be able to get the daily rewards, but I think the opposing view is that those rewards are there to encourage people to interact with randoms, not some given reward for just doing the dungeon. I can see both sides.

As long as it’s a PvP arena I’m down ;)

But I’m honesty a PvE duo arena would be fun.
