It's been 8 years for some of us

100 friend limit is far to low now. Give us a chance to make more friends and memories now please

you would figure it would be higher with the guild roster limit being 500, right now a guild is like a 500 person friend list in some ways lol
    plays PC/NA
    handle @Necrotech_Master
    active player since april 2014

i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (fully filled out with current game), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

in progress: acquiring mundus stones (currently only have the thief)

feel free to stop by and use the facilities

If you enjoy the company of 400 individual people that are not in one of your five guilds, you may be in the wrong guilds!

...but I see no reason you shouldn't be able to do you.

Oh, and increase the number of people you can block for all the same reasons.

Playstation I believe its 500 should give you PC folks the same.

I cleared my entire block list yesterday then ended up having a nice chat with one of the people I'd just unblocked about pvp builds.

I can't imagine having 100 players on my friend's list that I am actually friends with. I don't think I could even remember who most of them were with that many.

I have like 8 friends, and I keep up with one of 'em. Insert the simpsons skinner meme here; "Why would other players need more spots for friends? No one has that many friends! It's them who are wrong!"

But seriously, more slots on the friend list hurts no one, I'd like to see it.

Actually, it hurts everyone. The longer the list the greater the load on the server. The server is constantly checking our friends list to see who logs in and logs out which makes it a very real load that is added to the servers. At a time when Zenimax is trying to improve performance, I am guessing they will hold off on such changes even if they think it is a good idea.

I am not arguing against the idea, just pointing out the real issue the suggestion faces.

Isn't there some psych study somewhen or other that worked out humans are optimised for a max of ~150 people they can know well enough to say 'hi' to and actually recall what they look like and a few details about them?

Ah - here's an easy read. Seems if you're British it's 150 and 290 if you're from the US; guess some things really are bigger over there. ;)

Uh... if the server needs to constantly check whether any given friend is online, that sounds like a big optimization issue that needs to be straightened out.

Some people leave but you want to still remember or say hi too.

There's lot of different types of friendship examples business friendship for crafters

150 is still more then 100 either way

Friendship comes in different levels. I have to clean my friendlist often and definitely not the only one

It is clearly obvious that something is happening since we receive a notification in chat when they log in and log out. Even if they chose to never let you know when a friend logged in it would still require a query of everyone on the friends list every time we chose to look at the list. Otherwise, it would be mostly worthless.

At that, I expect very few have maxed out their friendslist unless they are filling it up guild members or have it filled with fluff because they do not remove people they do nothing with. That would make this a petty issue but only Zenimax can answer that question and I expect that would be the second thing they take into consideration with such a suggestion.

I can’t confirm this but we only have 20 player PSN block list so we need that changed for sure. We have no ignore list as I have repeatedly posted.

I think some folks must really be stretching the definition of "friend" if they are filling up their list. Maybe they need to implement an "acquaintance" list.

If someone friends me then doesn't message me within a week I remove them. I figure if they initiated the friend request they should make the first contact.

Heck, I do not accept requests where there was no conversation. When I used to queue solo, before I joined a decent guild and saw how good life can be, I would find people in a dungeon group would send friend requests even though none of us said anything more than hello and TYFG. I saw no reason to accept those requests because it was unlikely it would do anything but clutter my friends list.

It's a mmo...we are supposed to be social. Some of us like to be social so it would help to have a slight bump after 8 years now
