ESO stops working, have to use task manager to close

So how do I fix this? It happens every time now that I play the game, either PC/NA or PC/EU. When I hit "Quit" -- doesn't matter if its from the login screen, or from in game -- the game just sits there, and I have to close it with task manager.

Windows 10.

Things I've tried:

* Playing the game as administrator
* Allowing the game files through the firewall
* Allowing the game files as an exclusion in Windows Defender
* Repaired.
* Completely removed the game, defragged the drive, reinstalled, repaired again.
* Checked disk for errors.
* Updated windows 10 to the most recent update.
* Started the game without addons.

All of these things, and regardless what I do, I still have to quit with the task manager.

This has been going on for over a month now. The most recent game patch fixed nothing.

    We have posted some troubleshooting in the thread below that may help with these crashes.

    Welcome to the Club...

    I have had the same problem for months, I have reported it several times by tickets, I have followed all the recommendations without success and they have never done anything. And I am far from being the only one with this problem.

    So that's not my problem. I'm referring to the game itself, not the launcher. I don't launch the game from the launcher, but from the .exe file.

    Also, I'm not a steam account, if that matters.

    Have you tried a selective startup to see if that will help?

    Disabling background processes can be done by rebooting the PC into a selective startup. This will disable third party software running on the PC. Test your setup under the selective startup and see if the issue persists.

    Well, that was easy. Did not help.

    Nice to see how to turn off stuff I couldn't though.

    Other ideas?

    With the selective startup not helping, the next thing to do is start a ticket with customer support. Our support team can look into this issue further.
