I avoided using EHT because it isn't very user friendly and I did fine without it. But now that I'm doing my first from the ground up build at Doomchar Plateau I needed to line up a lot of floors and walls etc., so I am giving it a try. I've been able to figure out a few things but tonight I wanted to raise some platforms to put statues on display.

I got one platform set up on buttresses and wanted to copy and paste 3 more. Well it did work... sort of. I choose the pieces I wanted to duplicate but when I pasted from inventory to current location it put the buttresses way over on the rocks near the lava and buried the platform very deep underground. And it did it every time I pasted another setup. A couple of times I couldn't find the platform at all and had to use retrieve until I found the right platform.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong. The tutorials I watched on YouTube didn't help at all. Does anyone know what I may be missing?

Here's the thing with paste where you are. an object way on the left or right of your build, say a rock, you didn't even know you had, can set the copy off a bit. So sometimes it takes a little fiddling to find exactly where you want it to be. No, it isn't a perfect system but I find it's better than doing it by hand.

    Thanks for the replies.

I was outside at the area where you first enter Doomchar. I was placing platforms raised up on buttresses. I figured since it was a large open area it would be the best place to copy and paste.

The weirdest part is that even though I had all 5 pieces linked together it pasted the buttresses together but the platform was no longer connected and was deep underground way across the area. The only way I knew the platform was underground is because when I did retrieve and chose precision, it showed where it was, and it took a lot of raising before it was visible.

In the end it did help because lining up the buttresses was the most time consuming part. I just didn't know what I may be doing wrong.

I don't think you're doing anything wrong. The placement does tend to wig out, and I never know why. I can theorize, but without hearing something about it from Cardi I can't explain. I just don't know for sure. Just sometimes it requires redoing, "bring to me" and other stuff.

I have lost count of the times I have "lost" items that I've copy/pasted!!

As mentioned above the best solution I've found is to pick the "copy to original location" then at least you know where the items are, although you then have to place them where you want them :)
    When people say to me........
"You're going to regret that in the morning"
I sleep until midday cos I'm a problem solver!

But doesn't "copy to original location" just paste them right on top of the original? That's what it seemed to do when I tried it once.

Yea that doesn't work for me. My pieces just come apart as I try to find the parent piece and move the whole structure off the original.

It may not have worked great the way I ended up doing it but it did work on the most importance parts.

    Thanks for all the information.

Oh I see the problem. The parent piece. You linked them, then? Linking in the base game is screwed up. try doing it without linking anything.

I need them linked just long enough to get them positioned as a group in the right spot. I could try to paste them first then link them. Maybe that will work better. Thanks.

I have a better solution. Just made this minute 1/2 video for you. You don't need to link them to move them as a group.
