I use 3 months, because everything else doesn't fit well into my prepaid paying method - with 3 months I have enough left to add another month or buy some crowns - so it is often 3 months and bit extra or 4 months - 3 and 1 separate.

But to not give a wrong impression - I might add another 3 months or even more during the time ESO+ is active - basically anytime I think a few crowns could benefit my gameplay, I add some ESO+ time - with prepaid paying methods this is possible and I get all the crowns for the whole time in one go.

For those using ESO+ solely for the craftbag here's just a food of thought:

If you buy 9 additional accounts to your one existing when ESO is on sale, like at X-mas where it cost not even 7 €, that's a one time expense of roughly 63 € but you get the possibility to run up to 5 guilds on your own with each guild bank providing 500 storage spae. In addition to that you can create up to 8 characters which each has 60 slots at start and 60 shared bank space per account which are 4860 slots in total without any special training or bank/inventory extension purchases (not including private guild banks).

And now check what half a year of ESO+ will cost you :) I've just taken 13 € for simplicity here and I end up with 78 € which is quite more than 9 additional accounts you don't have to pay further in future but gain a lot of storage space. Sure, you will miss out on the convenience of the crafting bag and may have to run either 2 accounts simultaneously to trade stuff or send them via mail back and forth. You might also use the guild banks to do all the exchange. I.e. there are addons that allow you to collect all herbs with a toon out of a guild bank and store everything else that is tradable there. This might require you to constantly log back and forth through characters/accounts, though on the long run is much more cost efficient than ESO+. And on top of that you can grab the daily login rewards also on multiple accounts that way. I.e. if you logged in on each account during that month today is the day where you get the 100k coins, now count that up on 10 accounts then and you see where I'm going.

So, ESO+ is convenient but is for sure not the most cost-effective method on how to play the game :) It has its benefits though if you want to play DLC content as you don't have to buy those DLCs then (or later on buy them with crowns)

I prefer 1 month because if I do 3 months like I used to I use my crowns too fast and then have a long wait before I get more. I know I can purchase crowns but I've only done that a handful of times and don't want to make it a habit.

There is a solution to it, which I am using - a prepaid non-reoccurring payment method - you get all the crowns immediately after paying and it simply adds the time to your already running ESO+ time - it is very convenient. It doesn't fix the using crowns too fast effect though, I have normally used mine pretty much the day after already - but that is ok, I can add more ESO+ time anytime and get crowns, if I need some - and spending them is enhancing my gameplay and enjoyment of the game - having them on the wallet though does not.

Like I had no crowns left and then I came across that snow globe house - hm, a unique idea for a house and it isn't too big on the inside, but on different floor levels, and so I added 3 months ESO+ to my already existing 2+ months and got me that house, which is getting really nice and cosy - I'm nearly done decorating it - a jewelry station is missing still, but I will get one soon to make it complete (for my purposes).

My initial 3 month membership is running out in a couple days and I'm trying to decide which one to get next. 1 month or 3 again.

I wish you could buy a permanent sub. I did that once in another game and it was so worth it. I really dislike paying a monthly sub at all, but this game is not fun at all without the craft bag.

It is not even just that - when I had no ESO+ for a bit, I missed the opportunity to dye costumes - which I do quite often for a different look of my characters (even if they stick with the same costume). Especially the singing Skald has some surprisingly beautiful results when dyed - whereas the original is rather bland. It is my favorite costume now.

A mix of the 1st and last options.

Most of the time I don't subscribe. I don't need or want the benefits all the time and given how unpredictable my free time is a subscription doesn't work for me, too often I'd end up paying for time I barely get to use, which would be a waste of money. (Yes I know it's not expensive, but I'd rather not waste any amount of money on something I'm not using.)

When I do I usually buy a 30 day subscription. I tend to think of it as buying some of the benefits rather than time, because of the above issue with not getting to play enough that I feel like I'm getting my money's worth. I often do it when I have either a new character or lots of costumes I want to dye/change the dyes on, and I think of it as basically buying costume dying (without the limitations on dye stamps which make them largely useless). Once I've got them looking how I want I pretty much forget about the subscription, otherwise I end up obsessing over trying to make sure I'm using as much of the time as I can, and that's just not fun.

Once I bought a 90 day subscription, because it was the most cost effective way to get the amount of crowns I wanted. I think someone had also data-mined the statuettes or something and I knew I'd want an upcoming one...I'm not sure. It was back in 2019 but I have a feeling there was a reason besides the crows.

In total I've subscribed for 8 months across almost 7 years (since February 2015).

The sub model needs reworking. It's old and isn't in tune with what ESO is proposing imo.

I have been gaming since before the F2P model. I was conditioned to pay a subscription fee by other games which might effect my viewpoint on ESO+. Upon consideration; my thinking, generally is.....
    • I am used to this, so sure
    • I craft and like the craft bag and never want to play without it
    • the Crown allowance is nice
    • I do like the "ESO + discounts" that happen occasionally
    • I love the value that ESO brings to me personally and I am showing my appreciation

I would pay the same or more to go see a movie; go out to eat, for a premium streaming service as I would for ESO Plus.....and when I think of how many hours I play the game??? To me...it is worth making the choice to pay for Plus.

You hear the term "vote with your wallet" applied to everything people DO NOT LIKE. If you do not like it...vote with your wallet.

In my view, the reverse is ALSO true. If you like it...vote with your wallet. I like it and I am choosing to vote with my wallet to show that I like it.

Well, you have to set a value to your time spent juggling your inventories and accounts as well, it's called opportunity costs - if you factor that in, your method costs a lot more than ESO+ - and is so much more cumbersome - I don't know why you want to safe a few dollars each month - and put yourself under the inconvenience to juggle accounts and inventories. Is your time spent worth that less?

I am much better off doing monthly and using my self control to try not to use them up so fast.

I really do not understand why this game still attempts to use this model, just sell interesting DLC and cosmetics…not both tho. Going back to when they made the big change a lot of forums members suggested it would become a mess or feel like something different. They were correct

The crafting bag, in this context, is more than just convenient, though. Or, maybe the better way to put it is that "convenient" is an understatement.

However, you are correct where it comes to bulk storage of non-crafting items. The base inventory space across 10 accounts of 8 characters will hold a lot of stuff. If you do at least one ESO Plus on top of that to skim off the crafting materials, then you have almost all of that for unopened Transmutation Geodes and furniture items.

I mentioned that this "method" is for sure not as convenient as ESO+, and will definitely not be the go-to recommendation for most players, but as mentioned 9 accounts of ESO at sale cost less than a single ESO+ account in 6 month. After the end of 6 month if you don't continue paying you fall back to the regular restrictions of non-ESP+ accounts.

In regards to that method defeating the purpose of a 'game': People playing games for different reasons. Some want to be among the players dealing the most damage, some want to outplay their human players in a PvP battle, some stare at some figures in an addon and decide whether to buy or sell something, others love to decorate their houses and not have to interact with other players, yet others just want to experience the story while others try to hold on to every item they ever got a grip on. Oh, and some just like to play various amounts of characters from 1-50. There is just a plethora of ways how people play the game. My food of thaught is definitely not a recommendation just something to let you guys think and eventually discuss :)

If you have that many items then one could argument that this is dead capital. You might never need 10k rubedit ore or wood or the like, so why keep that much around? I agree that it takes noticable more time to take out stuff from a guild bank, besides having to move there explicitely, but addons on PC can help reduce the overhead definitely.

While true, humans usually don't calculate in opportunity costs and thus find it difficult to compare values of different options in those terms. Usually they see a one time expense of roughly 63 € and never have to pay again and in exchange have lots of further characters to play or at least use as storage alternative and a 6 month long investment of 78 € that grand twice the bank space on one account which loses its benefit after that period when not continuing the payment. From a (real) monetary perspective the option I just showed up seems more rational. But we humans are not always rational, and ESO+ comes with additional perks that are interesting for regular players.

I don't sub.I have more materials than I need in my craft bag. I just need to persuade myself that I don't need to collect more materials and don't need to keep them on 4 spare toons until the next free ESO+ weekend. I don't like the DLC dungeons and I've got all the story DLC I want to access. Sometimes I still play on my old account that has access to barely any DLC, just for fun.

(not to even talk about the other 500 things in the craft bag) not to mention the time to take them out of said guild bank each day, the fact that guild bank deposit/withdraw is noticeably slower than the regular bank, sounds like just a different version of the inventory issues the game has without ESO+

I definitely go through that many resources, doing writs on 18 (or 36 characters that I did for years) grinds though those mats. With the material return of doing writs, much of it goes right back into the craft bag, but to actually use 10k materials without the replacement (at an average of about 40 per character per day) only is a few days. It's a waste of game time (and real life time) to buy those materials, deposit into guild banks, move them around (especially on my "main" account which is in trading guilds, trials guilds, etc, so wouldn't be in all 5 "guild bank guilds")

For $140 a year, if it saves me 3 hours a year by having ESO+ I've paid for it having my job. Not inclusive of the crowns, the DLCs, etc.
